I'm born and raised in sunny California where I did my undergrad and medical school training at Stanford. In the middle of med school I took a leap of faith and spent one year exploring journalism, working at NBC News in NYC to create medical pieces for Nightly News and The Today Show. My adventure in social media started back then as a blog, and through the years, my interest in content creation

grew to include platforms such as Instagram TikTok and YouTube. Think of me as your friendly neighborhood doc that you can ask anything to, even questions you don't want to ask your real life physician.

Part 2 of my Korean derm clinic marathon at 😭

After already doing lasers, RF microneedling, skin boosters, and collagen treatments earlier in the day… we somehow kept going lol.

We finished with more collagen stimulating treatments, under eye tightening, and Juvelook Volume which is a biostimulatory filler designed to help stimulate your own collagen over time.

A few hours later I looked in the mirror and my jaw DROPPED. The swelling was absolutely insane and I fully understand now why Korean clinics tell patients to trust the healing process πŸ˜‚β

But as intense as the downtime looked, I can honestly say the skin quality improvements were worth it. The glow is glowing.

Huge thank you to .judyjoo and the team at for taking such amazing care of me through the entire process. 🫢

Come with me to where I got 10+ treatments in ONE day with .judyjoo πŸ‘€β

We started with a full AI skin analysis, then went straight into skin boosters, lasers, RF microneedling, collagen stimulators, tightening treatments, lymphatic drainage… and honestly I lost track halfway through 😭

One thing that really stood out to me as a derm is how Korean clinics combine SO many different technologies in one session instead of focusing on just one device or concern at a time.

Also not gonna lie… by the end my face was definitely looking a little scary lol. Red, swollen, shiny, numb… the full experience.

Stay tuned for part 2 tomorrow, where I spill the tea on the healing process, what my face looked like after, and which treatments I actually think were worth it πŸ‘€

My top 5 hair horror movies as a dermatologist.

πŸ‘‰ "Scalp training" doesn't actually reduce how much oil your scalp produces. Oil production is largely driven by hormones and genetics, not how long you go between washes.

πŸ‘‰ Sleeping with wet hair won't cause hair loss, but wet hair is more fragile and can be more prone to breakage from friction while you sleep.

πŸ‘‰ Raw do***ng heat tools = unnecessary damage. Heat protectant won't eliminate damage, but it can help reduce it.

πŸ‘‰ Biotin gummies are massively overhyped for hair loss. Unless you're truly biotin deficient (which is rare), most people won't see meaningful hair growth from taking biotin alone.

πŸ‘‰ And the one that makes me cringe every time… 2% minoxidil. If you're going to commit to minoxidil, I'd rather see most women using 5%. It's the gold standard and has better data for hair growth and density.

Which one surprised you the most? πŸ‘€πŸ‘‡

Hitting my last birthday of my 30s and though I’m officially called β€œma’am” most of the time over β€œmiss” it STILL catches me off guard πŸ˜†

This last year was about overcoming loss and working through grief while bringing something new to life in the form of my baby Kerativ (shameless birthday plug: if you haven’t tried it yet - what are you waiting for?! My hair and scalp have never felt better πŸ₯°)

Most days I feel overwhelmed, but simultaneously so grateful for it all, for my family who have all moved within a 15 mile radius of us, a close circle of friends, and health (a work in progress), and for creating a life I never could have imagined.

I don’t know what the future holds, but I am, as I always have been for as long as I can remember, endlessly optimistic.

Thank YOU my incredible community here I hold so dear for another amazing year! I love going through life with you ❀️ Can you believe we’ve celebrated 15 birthdays together on Instagram?!

Let's talk about hair shedding, because it sends a lot of people into a full spiral πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«β

That pile of hair on wash day almost always looks worse than it is πŸ‘€ Daily shedding adds up, especially if you don't wash every day. So when it finally comes out, it feels dramatic.

What matters more is pattern. Is it suddenly much more than usual? Is it lasting for weeks? Is your scalp starting to look different?

Stress, illness, hormonal shifts, and medication changes can all trigger temporary shedding.

The question I always get next in clinic is what can I actually do at home. A few ingredients help reduce visible shedding and support a healthier scalp at the root. Kopexil, Redensyl, saw palmetto, caffeine, adenosine, pumpkin seed oil, and more. That's exactly why I included all of them in my scalp serum ✨

And if it keeps going or your density is changing, that's when it's time to get evaluated by a derm.

5 easy derm hacks that keep me glowing as a mom of 2 nearing 40 ✨

πŸ‘‰ A green-tinted SPF instantly neutralizes redness while calming and hydrating the skin. I love the UV Skin Recovery Green Tinted Sunscreen SPF 50.

πŸ‘‰ Retinol Stick makes retinol so much easier to use consistently on the face, neck, and hands, especially if you’re sensitive or just starting out.

πŸ‘‰ Using an LED mask a few nights a week can help calm redness and reduce breakouts. Fun fact: I actually helped develop the LED mask πŸ‘€

πŸ‘‰ Sweating through your antiperspirant by noon? Apply it at night to clean, dry skin so it has time to work while sweat glands are less active πŸŒ™

πŸ‘‰ Daily scalp serum = one of the most underrated hair habits. Clinically backed ingredients can help support a healthier scalp and fuller-looking hair. I may be biased, but Redensify Serum is elite ✨

What's going on here?! A droopy eyelid after Botox is called ptosis. It happens when the product spreads into nearby muscles that lift the lid. πŸ‘€

The good news: it's usually temporary, and often treatable while it wears off.
The reminder: Botox, like all injectables, is incredibly technique-dependent. Going to a skilled provider is the single biggest thing you can do to minimize the risk of complications like this.

Healthy hair basics I actually live by for long, strong strands and a healthy scalp ✨

DAILY
πŸ‘‰ Scalp massage to support circulation at the root.
πŸ‘‰ Scalp serum to support a healthy scalp and growth cycle.
πŸ‘‰ Brush only when hair is dry, and never yank through knots.
πŸ‘‰ Sleep on a silk pillowcase. Less friction means less breakage and fewer tangles overnight.
EVERY FEW DAYS
πŸ‘‰ A shampoo that rebalances your scalp microbiome and clears buildup.
πŸ‘‰ A lightweight conditioner to repair my ends from years of coloring and heat. I reach for bond-repairing formulas.
πŸ‘‰ Dermarolling to stimulate blood flow and support collagen production at the scalp.
πŸ‘‰ LED helmet. Red light therapy supports follicle activity, so I use it for a layered approach.
EVERY FEW MONTHS
πŸ‘‰ A trim to keep ends from splitting further up the strand.
πŸ‘‰ Clean your hairbrush. Old hair, oil, and product buildup transfer right back onto clean strands and your scalp.

Your scalp serum works harder when it's not working alone 🀍
I get this question in clinic all the time: what's the one thing that actually works? The honest answer is it's never ONE thing. It's the combination. Here's how I layer mine so every drop of serum pulls its weight:
πŸ‘‰ Dermarolling
The dermaroller creates microchannels in the scalp that help the actives reach where they matter most. Roll first, then apply your scalp serum. Because the Redensify serum contains retinoid, I suggest rolling once a week in the evening, and resuming your serum the next morning.
πŸ‘‰ Shampoo first 🫧
A volumizing gel shampoo rebalances the scalp microbiome and clears buildup. Wash first, then apply your serum so the actives land on a clean, healthy scalp.
πŸ‘‰ Scalp massage πŸ’†β€β™€οΈβ
A scalp massager supports circulation and helps distribute the serum evenly down to the root. Apply, then massage.
πŸ‘‰ LED helmet
Red light therapy helps support follicle activity and healthy growth cycles. Use your LED helmet and then follow up with the scalp serum afterwards for a layered approach.
This is exactly why I built my brand around a scalp-first combo. Stacking the right methods is what supports healthier, denser hair over time, because the combination approach always beats the one-and-done. Need I say more?
