Not because they're fine. Because nothing was ever built for them.

Celebration of Life Seattle isn't a conference and isn't a support group. It's a full day at Pier 70 for anyone death has touched, whether that loss happened last month or twenty years ago. Real conversations, expert guidance, community that gets it, and an Evening of Evidential Mediumship as the sun sets over Elliott Bay.

I looked for a room like this when I was grieving. It didn't exist, so I built it.

Building something this big takes more than one person.

We're looking for Angels. Compassionate, reliable people who help make sure every person who walks through the door feels seen, from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave.

The only thing we ask is that you have personal or professional experience with loss due to death. That's the whole qualification.

Shifts are 4 to 5 hours, morning or afternoon, and the rest of the day is yours to experience. Volunteering gets you free entry to the full event, including the Evening of Evidential Mediumship. You also get a very cool t-shirt.

This is more than volunteering. It's helping build a room that has never existed before, and making grief literacy part of how we all talk about loss.

I have not built a single day of this alone. That turns out to be the whole thesis.

Under 90 days to create the first gathering of its kind in the world. There have been late nights and real doubt. But every time it got heavy, there was a team, a partner, a practitioner who picked it up with me.

Carrying a loss by yourself is the opposite of that. Heavy. Isolating. Like nobody quite gets it.

That isn't human nature. It's one culture's habit, and it's barely a century old. We moved dying out of the home, handed it to institutions, and stopped teaching each other how to sit with it.

October 10 is where that starts to shift.

Celebration of Life Seattle is the first gathering in the world to put practitioners, academics, researchers, the people carrying a loss, and evidential mediumship in the same room. A full day at Pier 70 for anyone death has touched.

Nobody should carry it alone. Not the work, and not the loss.

Today, part of the Celebration of Life Studios team and I did our final venue walk for Celebration of Life Seattle. And I honestly had to take a moment alone, because seeing it really come to life feels like an extraordinary dream.

We are 35 days away from launching a grief gathering like the world has never seen, where you are invited to be exactly as you are, without having to explain yourself to anyone and without giving up the person (or people) you are missing. From the real-life angels volunteering their time, to the renown academics, researchers and culture bearers taking the stage, to the extraordinary mediums who are there to facilitate a conversation with your loved one…EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. has experienced loss too.

Admittedly, the creation of this company, the first public benefit company changing the Western narrative on death and grief, has and is actively changing me. I’ve never been so confronted with my own fears, doubts and shadows, personally or professionally. And yet, the marching orders are so clear, make it bigger than you. So I am.

I want to extend my profound gratitude to my team, to my support network, and to the woman and leader I am humbling working to become. Wings up. It’s time to fly! 🪽

Sixty-seven percent of Americans carrying a loss have never talked to anyone about it.

Not because they don't need to. Because nobody tells you where to go.

A support group? A therapist? A medium? Someone who's actually been through it? You've probably circled all four and picked none, and another month went by.

There are 2.85 million deaths in this country every year. Therapy sits at one end. Funeral homes at the other. Almost nothing exists in between, which is exactly where you've been living.

October 10 puts all of it in one room. Practitioners across death and loss, speakers who have lived it, and an Evening of Evidential Mediumship as the sun goes down over Elliott Bay.

You don't have to know what kind of help you need before you walk in. That's the whole point.

I am working on a membership for non-clinical practitioners (aka mediums, end-of-life doulas, funeral celebrants, grief coaches, etc), in the death and grief space that are already working and are trying to scale their business. This is not for folks who are volunteering or not yet taking paying clients.
