What an incredible celebration of our Grand Re-Opening at University House Issaquah! We officially unveiled our newly-transformed spaces, including our Main Lobby, Living Room, Gilman Auditorium, and Hospitality Room. Guests enjoyed gourmet hors d’oeuvres from our talented culinary team, live music, and conversation with our amazing residents and staff. Many thanks to everyone who joined us with a toast to kick off this exciting new chapter, and we look forward to welcoming you soon to our reimagined spaces! Meet Rob Mathison, our new Community Relations Representative at The Lakeshore!
According to Rob, "I have over 25 years of experience in client service, including 10 years in property management and the past several years in residential real estate. I also spent five years as a public high school teacher before moving into software sales, eventually finding my way back to roles that directly help individuals and their families. I enjoy building relationships and helping people, both professionally and through volunteer work, which is why I’m especially excited to be part of The Lakeshore’s mission.
I’m a lifelong Seattle resident and enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active through exercise and day hikes, and reading and writing.
I look forward to getting to know our residents and helping make The Lakeshore feel like home."

Meet Cindy Milardovic, our new Area Community Relations Director at The Gardens at Town Square!
According to Cindy, "As someone who grew up with an incredibly close relationship with my grandparents, I'm passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults and their families and helping them navigate the senior living journey with care and compassion. There's nothing more fulfilling than watching a resident truly blossom after moving into a community they can call home.
Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors — whether it's walking along Alki Beach, camping, hiking, or being out on the water. I'm also a huge Seattle sports fan (especially the Seahawks!), enjoy live music, and love to travel. I am excited to join the Era Living team and look forward to making a difference and touching many lives together in the years ahead!"

Dorothy Chin (resident of Aljoya Mercer Island) has won the 2026 Inspire Positive Aging Award's Defining Inspiration Award from Sound Generations!
"At 102, Dorothy is known as one of the most active and joyful members of her community. She naturally brings people together through her warmth, enthusiasm, and willingness to engage with others. Within her community, she regularly attends events, greets others who live in her building each day, builds a book of stories about her peers, and is always ready to share a smile and laugh. She approaches each day with gratitude, kindness, and curiosity."
We're also very proud of Jim Hamilton (Aljoya Thornton Place, shown with Life Enrichment Director Julia Goldie), who was nominated for Advocacy & Activism, as well as Meri England (The Lakeshore), who was nominated for Community Service.

For over a dozen years, Rick has played a pivotal role in building, updating, and maintaining the beautiful environments our residents call home. His journey began as Facilities Director at Aljoya Mercer Island before transitioning to our Home Office, where he oversaw capital improvements and resource utilization across all eight of our communities. From major renovations to standardizing our Capital Projects department behind the scenes, Rick’s leadership has shaped the spaces our residents enjoy today.
