One of the most important pieces of advice Jill gives clients is how to manage interruptions, brain focus, tasks. A while back she was welcomed to Substack Live by Gillian Goddard of and we talked about all the tools we can use to actually get through the day and be successful doing so.

Here's a quick clip from that conversation. You can find the whole thing on our latest Substack:

Sometimes I like to take a moment and reintroduce myself and what we do here at Go Long.

As an accountability coach, Jill works with people at all ages and stages who need a little kick in the pants to get to their own goal. She does it all by text so it’s unobstrusive, and confidential.

You can get to know Jill through her podcast, Going the Distance, and her Substack, The Mid-Life Edit.

Last week was Jill and Marc's 20th wedding anniversary. On her Substack, "The Mid-Life Edit," she shared about her Aunt Helaine.

Aunt Helaine was the kind of person who opened doors - and helped to make sure you were ready when that door inched open. Jill shares the story of her aunt helping her network for her first job, and then helped her buy the suit to wear to the interview. She shared the family heirloom china with Jill and always made everyone's favorite recipes at family dinners.

She was also, as Jill puts it, the best bu****it detector she'd ever encountered. She could tell when someone was putting on airs and wasn't right for the member of the family to stay with. We on the Go Long team believe Jill's Aunt Helaine set her up to know how she could help people and make a difference in their lives.

Jill gets to the bottom of someone else's problems. Sometimes she helps them face the truth they know is there but they don't want to see. Sometimes she gives them that extra little push to go from below basecamp to the summit they've been reaching for.

Read Jill's substack this week and we bet you'll be as inspired as we are to get up, get going, and seek help for what we are having trouble doing ourselves.

Whatever it is you’re trying to accomplish in your life: losing weight, managing your time, writing that substack or book, launching a side hustle, what we know to be true is if you keep telling yourself some version of “I’ll get to after I finish X,” then you know you’ll never actually get to it.

In this week’s Substack, Jill digs deep into how to make things actually happen. AND… if you find you’re needing help getting there on your own, maybe what you need is an accountability coach coming through your texts to help you make sure you get there.

In Jill’s words, she “brings some easy back.” So find your easy and reach your goals.

It’s said that the most important decision you make in your life is choosing who to spend it with. Twenty years ago today, Jill and Marc chose each other.

Twenty.
Two decades.
That’s a long time to spend with any one person.

The traditional gift for the 20th anniversary is china. What a perfect fit. China is sturdy and fragile at the same time… just like a marriage. Settings of china represent holidays and family meals and celebrations and “let’s use the good stuff tonight.” A china pattern can tell a story of a family - grandma’s dishes used around a holiday table, the few remaining pieces left from coming over from the old country, that one plate with the chip out of it your mother’s second cousin who came to Thanksgiving once created.

What matters most on a day like an anniversary is reflecting back on the moments together, the hospital stays, the mountains climbed, the tragedies faced, the moments toasted.

At 20, we on the Go Long team congratulate Jill and Marc on their anniversary and we are positive they are doing something fun, together, today… maybe even using the china.

I know, I know. You hardly ever get to make your grandmother’s recipe for (insert favorite summer picnic dish here) and you really want your friends to know what a great cook you are. But it’s May. You’ve got a lineup of grad parties to get to, summer camp to shop for, a vacation to pack for, real life, bills, work, grocery shopping and that recipe needs time to sit in the fridge or rise in a warm oven and you just aren’t sure how you’ll ever….

Just let it go. Let. It. Go. Literally no one gives a s**t about having great food at this party. It’s about getting together with people you want to spend time with. It’s about bringing something so no one person has to do it all. But make it easy on yourself. You just don’t have to be the perfect potluck contributor this time. Go ahead and buy it. No one is judging.

You’ve officially got permission. Take it.

"If your phone is an appendage, your apps are a pretty honest portrait of who you are and how you actually spend your days."

Have you ever had your phone completely break? Did you feel helpless? Did you have any sort of plan b?

This just happened to Jill and it made her think about how dependent we all are on this extension to our hand... the phone.

Ever wondered what it really means to get accountability coaching by text?

No, Jill doesn't start harassing you and forcing you to do something you don't want to do. She's helping you reach the goals YOU set out to accomplish. Together, you will get it done and sometimes you just need an objective person sending you messages to make sure you know you can do it.

If you are struggling to get to a goal in your life and need a kind kick in the pants, reach out and let's talk about options that might work for you.

“What She Taught Me,” the new series on the Going the Distance podcast, is all about what our mothers taught us, what we’ve carried forward, what we’re leaving in our childhood. So who better to be the first guest of the series than Jill’s sister, Lisa?

Thanks to Lisa for sharing her thoughts with not just Jill but also our community. Though they were raised by the same mom, they had very different childhoods with very different experiences with their parents. Today, Lisa is the local, hands-on caregiver for their mother who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. There’s a lot to unpack here and for two sisters, there’s a lot of goodness to share.

Read it on Substack, listen where you find your podcasts or watch on YouTube.
