Environmental Hygiene Protects Vulnerable Patients

Healthcare-associated mould outbreaks may be uncommon, but when they occur, the consequences can be serious.

This is especially true in high-risk patient areas, including transplant, oncology, haematology, and other immunocompromised care settings.

The CDC notes that invasive mould infections can cause severe illness and death, with aspergillosis among the common healthcare-associated invasive mould infections.

Healthcare-associated aspergillosis has also been linked with dust exposure during construction or renovation.
