The Northwest African American Museum is the premier institution for showcasing African American art, history and culture in the Pacific Northwest. Our visit did not disappoint. The current exhibits include UNBLACKABLE: an affirmation of Black presence, creativity, memory, and self-determination. More than an exhibition title, it is a declaration: Black identity cannot be erased from history, reduced to stereotype, or separated from the cultural imagination of the world.
Another exhibit is History Lives Here: this exhibit is for the mentors, healers, and teachers—the everyday history-makers whose stories were missing from the ones we were taught. What started as a simple act of gratitude has blossomed into a powerful movement—a collective tribute to the unsung heroes among us.
Highly worth a visit, come explore this local gem!
