Sleep apnea / snoring treatment at All Smiles Family Dentistry.

A patient testimonial and photo:

I first heard about this laser treatment in an e-mail message from Dr. Furman and thought that it would be worth pursuing. As I understand it, the soft-palate, along with other tissues in the body, sag as we age. When palate sags, it blocks the breathing passage, resulting in severe snoring and sleep apnea. The laser helps to contract these tissues and therefore shrink them so as to open the breathing passage. This made sense to me, and I scheduled the procedure.

She took before and after pictures of my soft-palate which was very helpful to better understand the problem snd the possible benefits of treatment. The sessions last only a few minutes. There is very little pain, during the procedure, and for me, none afterwords.

On my drive home after the first treatment, I surprisingly felt my breathing improve on my left throat. And this has remained so. I returned for a second treatment after 2.5 weeks and we looked at the before and after pictures. My palate was significantly less engorged post-treatment, particularly on the left side.

I would recommend this treatment to anyone having similar problems. Once my treatments are complete, I plan to wean myself off of the CPAP machine. I can always go back to it if needed, but if this simple procedure does the trick, amen.
