We’re saying it louder for the people in the back: Not feeling like yourself is a big fu***ng deal! Just because your perimenopause symptoms are normal doesn’t mean you have to suffer through your symptoms without support!

In Part 5 of our perimenopause series, Dr. Fariba and Dr. Bennett talk how to handle pushback from doctors who think perimenopause symptoms are “all in your head” (they’re not, we promise), and discuss how while HRT is great for treatment, it’s not the right path for everyone, and that’s okay!

If you still have questions about perimenopause, menopause, and other women’s health issues, our team is here to help! You can make an appointment — in person or virtual — at ariaintegrative.com/appointments.

Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder that is characterized by muscle weakness that is exacerbated by exercise. This June, for Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month, we hope you’ll learn more about this condition and how to recognize some of the early symptoms, including:

✅ Drooping eyelids or changes in vision
✅ Trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing

Thankfully, there are lots of treatments available for myasthenia gravis, and as we always say: Earlier diagnosis leads to earlier treatment and better outcomes!

If you think you may be living with myasthenia gravis, or have a diagnosis and are ready for providers who specialize in autoimmune conditions and chronic illness, we’re here to help! Book your visit — in person or via telehealth — at ariaintegrative.com/appointments.

In honor of Pride Month, we’re here to remind you that healthcare is a human right. Period.

As an inclusive medical practice, we’re committed to providing healthcare to everyone who needs it. This shouldn’t be a controversial take — it seems like a no-brainer to us that if people need care, you provide that care — but we want to make sure our stance is super clear.

No matter what you want to do with your uterus, no matter why you need HRT, or no matter how you’re living with chronic illness, we’re here to support you, this month and every month 💙🌈

We love our “adult juice” too, but definitely try to avoid it if you know you have testing coming up in the next few days! Alcohol can impact your labs in a number of ways, as Dr. Windsor details here, so we recommend going alcohol-free for at least 24 to 48 hours before having any lab work done. After that? And as long as it’s okay with your provider? Treat yoself 🍻

If you have questions about labwork, chronic illness, or anything else health related, ask us ⭐LIVE⭐ today on Instagram at 2 PM PT! We hope to see you there! 💙

This question came in from a follower on TikTok — they’re dealing with burning mouth and want to seek testing for Sjogren’s, but their doctor isn’t taking them seriously, even going so far as to suggest that it’s “just menopause” and they should “change their toothpaste.” What?! 😱🚩🚩

If you haven’t done any labs yet, we’d recommend an ANA with an SSA and an SSB. If you’re near a major lab that can do early antibody testing, you could also look into testing salivary antigens, carbonic anhydrase. And there’s always also the option for a biopsy.

We answered this question at a recent Instagram Live, and love when followers join us live so we can ask follow-up questions and help them navigate their health needs in real time. If you’re dealing with questions — about Sjogren’s or anything else health related — join us 🌟live🌟 on Instagram this Thursday, May 28 at 2 PM PT! We’ll see you there! 💙

When should you go get help with your perimenopause symptoms? As soon as you stop feeling like yourself. Not feeling like yourself is a big deal, and you don’t have to suffer through your symptoms without support!

Dr. Fariba and Dr. Bennett talk about the misconceptions around perimenopause and menopause, how women are gaslit by medical providers around their symptoms, and how Oprah (yes, that Oprah!) changed the trajectory of perimenopause and menopause care.

If you still have questions about perimenopause, menopause, and other women’s health issues, our team is here to help! You can make an appointment — in person or virtual — at https://www.ariaintegrative.com/appointments/.
