Someone asked if increased pain is a sign of low progesterone during the luteal phase, and the answer is: maybe 🙃 While low progesterone levels can cause pain, the pain could also be caused by normal hormonal ebbs and flows as you move through your menstrual cycle. If your tryptase is elevated, it can mean a few different things. Elevated tryptase in the midst of a flare is a tell-tale sign of MCAS. But if you’re dealing with high BASELINE tryptase levels, you might be looking at HaT or mastocytosis.

Did you know you can have HYPO and HYPERthyroidism at the same time? It’s not super common, but it does happen (because autoimmune diseases love to hang out together!), and usually results in your thyroid hormone levels being difficult to stabilize, even with medication!

MCAS research is still in progress, so we don’t have a definitive answer on the timeline from MCAS ▶️ small fiber neuropathy. What we DO know is that your mast cells releasing all that histamine are RIGHT next to your nerves, and their activity is what’s causing the irritation.

The best way to mitigate MCAS’s effects on your nerves? Treat your MCAS! Dr. Stocker talks more about the link between MCAS and small fiber neuropathy and what treatments we commonly use to treat both issues.
