its hard to know sometimes if someone has an autoimmune disease. sometimes we arent going to know for sure. but as long as the work up is done to make sure major organ systems are not effective, you can implement anti-inflammatory treatments and still see improvements in symptoms without knowing 100%

is endometriosis an autoimmune disease?

technically no. but it does have some features like autoimmune diseases that make us suspicious.

endometriosis produces a lot of systemic inflammation, and is also increases the risks of developing an autoimmune disease, but it lacks the key features of direct tissue damage by immune cells commonly seen in autoimmune diseases.

it is important to ask the question of whether or not endometriosis is caused BY inflammtion or is causing the inflammtion itself. which is why more research is needed.
