Wonderful conversation on Elizabeth’s podcast! Enjoy!

My conversation with Dr. Nazanin Moali is now live on *xologypodcast

In this episode, we talked about overcoming religious shame around s*x, taking a look into the historical context of abstinence, the impact of shame surrounding s*xuality & how folks can untangle these issues to begin to create a healthy s*xual ethic of their own.

I always appreciate the opportunity to connect with medical professionals who seek to understand the impact of religious s*xual shame!

Check the link in my bio to listen to this full episode❤️it lives on the resources page on my website as well!

If you are a medical provider who wants more training in this area and around s*xuality in general, check out ‘s upcoming Advanced Clinical S*xology Course, where we will dive deeper into this & many other subjects. For more info visit: nwioi.com/classes

THIS is what I wish every American could feel as they sit and fill out their ballot - along with a historical policy awareness of what has transpired over the years.

Who has benefitted? Who has suffered?

A new worthwhile documentary to watch is: “The Great American Lie” to understand how we have come to such extreme economic disparities over the last 40 years.

I find that educating myself has helped me to see the bigger picture and helps me know where and how I can intervene from my place of privilege in the world.

Whether we know - whether we feel it - we are all interconnected - our very lives and health depend on each other.

VOTE AS IF:
your skin was not white
your parents need medical care
your spouse is an immigrant
your son is transgender
your sister was a victim of gun violence
your best friend is a veteran living with PTSD
your brother is gay
your land is on fire
your house is flooded
VOTE AS IF YOUR FAMILY DEPENDS ON IT.

Because privilege has no place in this election, but empathy does.

THIS is what I wish every American could feel as they sit and fill out their ballot — along with a historical policy awareness of what has transpired over the years in our nation.

Asking ourselves:
Who has benefitted? Who has suffered?
And- why? How can we make a difference?

A new worthwhile documentary to watch is: “The Great American Lie” to understand how we have come to such extreme economic disparities over the last 40 years.

I personally find that educating myself has helped me to see the bigger picture. It helps me know where and how I can intervene and act from my place of privilege in the world and in our country.

Whether we know - whether we feel it - we are all interconnected - our very lives and health depend on each other. Let’s vote like it📮🗳

Reminder: November 3rd we are voting for more than just POTUS!

If you are registered to vote in WA state, I want to encourage you to vote YES to approve Referendum 90, a measure that approves a bill we worked hard to pass last year!

You may remember earlier this year when we passed a law that requires all schools across our state to teach age-appropriate, medically accurate, LGBTQ+ inclusive, comprehensive s*x-education & consent K-12. Up until last year, WA State was one of 21 states that did not require schools to provide this education.

Why is this so important?

Research shows comprehensive s*x-ed...
-Helps kids get involved in s*x later
-Make safer s*xual choices when they do become active
-Be able to protect themselves better
-Lowers teen pregnancy & STI rates
-Help kids choose more kind & loving partners
-Help them stay closer to their parents overall when parents are engaged in these conversations
-Help them have more satisfying and varied s*xual lives as adults once they have grown up

Make sure you’re registered to vote, & vote early 🗳 ! Approve Ref. 90!

I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of this amazing new resource:)

Parents and caregivers, you are your child’s first and most influential s*x educator.
From infancy into adulthood, you are there shaping their understanding of relationships, bodies, consent, safety, empathy, trust, respect, pleasure, gender, s*xuality, intimacy, boundaries, and communication. Whether you feel qualified or not for the gig, they’re watching and absorbing the norms and messages each day.
Laying a foundation for a child’s healthy s*xual development starts well before puberty, s*xual activity, or any s*x education class they might receive in a school setting.
This path can feel overwhelming or unclear, especially if you’ve not been raised with these tools. The good news is that it’s never too late to start or deepen talks, and you don’t have to figure it out all on your own.
⭐️This Thursday, October 15th, we release “S*x Positive Talks to Have With Kids,” a resource that will help families tackle the talks at every age and stage! It’s a guide just for parents and caregivers that walks you through over 150 conversation starters and reflection exercises on topics like bodies, consent, menstruation, pleasure, gender, relationships, p**n, and much more. From birth to young adulthood, this book will be your go-to for raising s*xually healthy, informed, empowered young people, and will help you feel more confident along the way. Available in paperback on Amazon Thursday, October 15th!
📚 Tag someone below that would love a resource like this for their parenting toolkit!

Last week my daughter .abigail.s sent me Brene Brown’s recent episode with activist, poet, educator—
Sonya Renee Taylor.

The two of them discuss the impact of body shame, radical self-love, and social justice— all of which are central to Sonya’s revolutionary book, The Body Is Not An Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love

Today I’m excited to share with you this book as my most recent nightstand pick. I have been devouring each word, walking away chapter after chapter in tears and awe of Sonya’s profound way of bringing us back into our bodies— to do the inner work, unpacking our internalized shame, that is radical self love.

One of my central beliefs that has informed my own work and life— is that all of us are hard-wired for connection and pleasure, and we all deserve to be loved just as we are. Sometimes shame disrupts this, but it doesn't have to stay that way.

In her own words from the “Unlocking Us” episode—

“The work of radical self-love is to keep moving the things that are in the way outside of me, and to keep working in concert with other human beings to move the things that are in the way in the world. And that when we do those two things simultaneously, when we do them together, I believe, and I may not ever live to see it, but I deeply believe that we make a different world.

So, radical self-love is an internal journey that impacts our external reality.” -SYT
