We’ve been thinking a lot about connection lately. How the most meaningful kind tends to feel natural rather than forced, and how it asks us to actually slow down and show up.

That’s not just true of how we connect with others. The outlets we choose for connection — the conversations, the communities, the practices we return to — shape how grounded we feel day to day. Our free 6-week Mindfulness Practices Group is one of those outlets: a space to slow down, connect more deeply with yourself, and build a practice alongside others.

We’ve had our first session, but it’s not too late to join — each week stands on its own, so you can drop in and attend as you’re able. Come for one, come for all six, come when life allows.

Here’s what’s still ahead:

☁️ May 19 — Observing / Defusion
☁️ May 26 — Contacting the Present / Grounding
☁️ June 2 — Working with Resistance
☁️ June 9 — Breathwork
☁️ June 16 — Visualization

When: Tuesdays through June 16, 2026, 6:00 – 7:30 pm PT
Where: Virtual via Zoom
Fee: Free

Wherever you are in your practice, there’s room to learn and grow here.

Facilitated by Susan Dorsch.

Meet Stephanie. 🌱

Before becoming a therapist, Stephanie spent years as a biomedical engineer — driven by a deep desire to make the world a better place. That same drive brought her to Self Space, where she now works with individuals and couples ready to uncover and transform the patterns keeping them stuck.

"Together, we can find light in the darkness of challenging experiences and create new opportunities for safety and connection."

Stephanie specializes in relationships, trauma, anxiety, grief, life transitions, and psychedelic integration — blending EFT, psychodynamic therapy, and IFS into an approach rooted in compassion and curiosity.

She's especially passionate about supporting high-achieving, analytical clients in reconnecting with their emotions, bodies, and inner wisdom.

Watching your kid struggle with anxiety might be one of the hardest things you do as a parent. The instinct to step in and make it stop? That's just love.

But our own Hannah Scheuer, LCSW, was just featured in sharing something worth sitting with: when we consistently protect our kids from anxiety, we can actually make it harder for them to grow through it.

The sweet spot? Acknowledging what they're feeling — and then gently, steadily helping them believe they can do the hard thing anyway. That's how resilience gets built.

One small moment at a time.
So proud of Hannah for bringing her voice to this conversation.

Can EMDR therapy really be effective online?

When the pandemic forced therapy into virtual spaces, clinicians and clients alike had important questions about whether trauma-focused approaches like EMDR could translate through a screen. Research over the past several years shows promising results: virtual EMDR is both effective and sustainable, with outcomes comparable to in-person treatment.

In this blog, Self Space therapist Zoe Kinsey, LMHC, explores what we’ve learned since 2020 and what truly matters in the healing process.

Zoe is passionate about helping clients rediscover their zest for life and build confidence to grow and change. She works with adults and adolescents experiencing depression, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma/PTSD symptoms, and also provides parent coaching for families navigating severe mental health challenges. Zoe specializes in EMDR therapy and offers this treatment option to clients.

One of our most-read and shared blogs is about repairing trust after lies — because so many couples quietly struggle with this.

When trust is damaged in a relationship, the impact runs deeper than the initial lie. It can create doubt, insecurity, and emotional distance that lingers long after the truth comes out.

The good news? Repair is possible.

Rebuilding trust requires full accountability, transparent communication, consistent follow-through, and time. It’s not about quick fixes — it’s about steady, intentional effort from both partners.

For couples willing to do the work, repair can even become an opportunity for deeper understanding and stronger connection.

If you’re working through betrayal or rebuilding trust, our team of couples therapists provides a supportive, structured space to help you navigate the process with clarity and care. We also offer low-cost therapy options to make support more accessible.

You don’t have to navigate repair alone. Our staff of experienced couples therapists offers both standard and low-cost options to make support accessible.

Valentine’s Day tends to spotlight flowers, date nights, and big romantic gestures. ❤️
But real intimacy? It’s built in the everyday moments of connection.

Alongside trust, communication, and shared values, physical intimacy—when it’s consensual and mutually fulfilling—can meaningfully strengthen a relationship.

✨ It deepens emotional bonding (thank you, oxytocin).
✨ It opens the door to honest conversations about needs and boundaries.
✨ It reduces stress and creates space for comfort and play.
✨ It supports overall emotional and physical well-being.
✨ It fosters vulnerability and closeness beyond the physical act itself.

It’s not about frequency. It’s about quality, consent, and feeling attuned to one another.

If this season brings up pressure, distance, or questions about your connection, that’s more common than we talk about. Intimacy ebbs and flows—and sometimes having a supportive space to sort through it can make all the difference.

We offer couples therapy (including low-cost options) for partners who want to reconnect, communicate more openly, or simply feel closer again.

If it feels like time for that conversation, we’re here. Inquire at the link in our bio, our match specialist will work to find the best therapist for you.
