AI isn’t replacing everyone. But it is changing how hiring works.

What to do this week, so you stay competitive.
1. Add one AI tool to your workflow, research, writing, or analysis.
2. Update your resume bullets to show outcomes and tools.
3. Practice two “human advantage” stories, judgment, influence, trust.

If you’re job searching right now, what part feels hardest, getting interviews, standing out, or telling your story?

Is your resume working as hard as you are? In a competitive market, even the most qualified candidates can be sidelined by minor oversights. It is not just about what you have done, it is about how that story is told to recruiters and applicant tracking systems.

At the PWOCN Career Center, we help brilliant professionals bridge the gap between an application and an interview by correcting common pitfalls:

1. Highlighting duties over impact: Show the results you delivered, not just a list of tasks.
2. Missing keywords: If your resume is not optimized for the role, it may never reach a human eye.
3. Complex formatting: Clean, professional layouts always win over cluttered designs.

Pragmatic optimism means focusing on what you can control. Refining your presentation is a powerful step you can take today.

Visit the Career Center to access resume critiques, industry-specific templates, and expert coaching designed specifically for women of color. Let’s ensure your resume reflects your excellence.

Does your job description cover everything you do?

For many professional women of color, the answer is no. Beyond the KPIs and strategy, there is a layer of "hidden labor" that keeps the office running but often goes unrewarded.

This looks like:
- Taking the lead on "office housework" like notes and logistics.
- Managing the emotional climate and code-switching for others' comfort.
- Leading DEI initiatives or ERGs without formal recognition or pay.
- Mentoring new hires while maintaining a full project load.

This labor is essential, but it can also be a silent career-staller. When your time is spent on non-promotable tasks, it leaves less room for the high-impact work that leads to the C-suite.

It is time to move this labor from invisible to invaluable. Start documenting every task that falls outside your role and discuss how it aligns with your career goals during your next review.

At PWOCN, we are here to help you navigate these workplace dynamics with practical resources and expert coaching.

Take control of your career trajectory.
