What actually happens when an overnight caregiver comes to your loved one’s home?
Overnight care can look different depending on the senior. Some caregivers remain awake and alert throughout the entire shift, ready to help with bathroom trips, mobility, repositioning, confusion, or wandering. Live-in care works differently, allowing the caregiver to sleep while remaining available when needed.
Schedules can vary too. Overnight shifts are commonly 8 to 12 hours, while some families choose longer shifts that include both evening and morning routines.
Our latest article explains how overnight care for seniors works, what caregivers can help with, and what families can expect from bedtime through morning.
