Early detection saves lives, but access to screenings continues to be a barrier for many women in our communities. This Saturday, October 24, we’re helping bring awareness, education and access to breast cancer screenings right here in Sebring.

Join us for Step, Screen & Survive, a FREE Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention Event!

The event includes FREE mammograms for eligible women, health screenings, breast cancer education, community resources, a wellness walk and survivor recognition.

HOW TO BOOK YOUR FREE MAMMOGRAM:

2. Click the three menu bars at the top of the page.
3. Select Book Now.
4. Choose All Other Locations.
5. Find Boots and B***s, located at 1160 Persimmon Avenue in Sebring.
6. Follow the prompts to complete your appointment registration.

Mammograms are available to eligible women. Please review the screening requirements when booking.

As we recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let’s do more than wear pink. Let’s encourage screenings, share resources and help remove barriers to care.

We cannot build systems of care by speaking for communities while leaving their lived experiences outside the room.

This World Mental Health Day, we are reminded that listening is only the beginning. Real change happens when people are trusted as experts in their own lives and included in shaping the programs, policies and services intended to support them.

At Heartland Core Wellness, we believe fathers belong in conversations about pregnancy, postpartum health and family wellness.

The fatherhood panel at the annual Community Baby Shower was honest, engaging and necessary. When fathers are informed, supported and empowered, entire families and communities are stronger.

Thank you to the Healthy Start Coalition of Hardee, Highlands & Polk Counties, Inc. and the Highlands County Community Action Group for creating space for this important conversation.

We are so excited to see our Community Baby Shower featured by Sebring Vybez and to see a glimpse of our Executive Director, Aisha Oni Alayande, sharing her work in the community on HGTV!

In just two days she will host the annual Community Baby Shower in partnership with the Healthy Start Coalition of Hardee, Highlands & Polk Counties, Inc. and our community partners. They will welcome mothers, fathers and families for a day of celebration, connection and support.

If you would like to help us pour into these families, we are still accepting diapers, wipes, baby essentials and gift cards. Please message us to arrange a donation. Every contribution helps us remind a family that they have a village. 💜

Honoring Bereaved Parents Awareness Month

July is Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, a time to honor and support parents and families who are living with the loss of a child. The grief that follows the death of a child is lifelong, and every family’s journey is different. This month reminds us to lead with compassion, patience, and understanding.

For bereaved parents, grief may not follow a timeline. Certain dates, milestones, holidays, or everyday moments can bring waves of sadness, even years later. One of the most meaningful things we can do is create space for parents to talk about their child, share memories, or simply feel supported without judgment.

Support does not have to be complicated. A kind message, remembering a child’s name, offering practical help, checking in after the funeral or anniversary dates, or simply sitting with someone in their grief can make a meaningful difference. Small acts of care can help bereaved parents feel seen, supported, and less alone.

It is also important for families to know that help is available. Grief support groups, counseling, crisis lines, peer support, and community resources can provide comfort and connection during an incredibly difficult time. No parent should have to walk through grief alone.

This Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, we remember every child whose life touched the hearts of others. We honor their legacy, support the families who love and miss them, and encourage our community to respond with kindness, compassion, and care.

As we celebrate Independence Day, we’re reminded that strong communities don’t happen by chance. They’re built when people have the opportunity to learn, connect, grow, and care for one another.

At Heartland Core Wellness, we believe wellness is more than healthcare. It’s creating environments where people can thrive physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and economically. It belongs in our everyday lives, not just in moments of crisis.

Today, we celebrate fathers, grandfathers, bonus dads, uncles, coaches, mentors, and the men who choose to show up for the next generation.

At Heartland Core Wellness, we know that wellness begins in relationships. It is built in the rides to practice, the difficult conversations, the lessons passed down, and the daily decision to be present.

Some men had strong examples. Others became the example.

To every father and father figure helping create healthier families and stronger communities, thank you.

At Heartland Core Wellness, we also recognize the families, children, friends, and communities who carry both the pride and the weight of that sacrifice every day.
