Cramp hits at night and wakes you up? Here is what to do in the moment.

Sit up and stay calm. Hold the toes of that foot and gently pull them up toward your shin with your knee fairly straight. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds and breathe out slowly. Can't reach? Use a towel or a belt.

Then walk a few slow steps, rub the calf and drink some water. Call us if cramps wake you most nights or the muscle stays weak or swollen.

Heartburn is common, but some symptoms are not ordinary reflux.

Get medical advice for trouble or pain swallowing, persistent vomiting, unexplained weight loss, blood in vomit, or black, tarry stool. Severe, persistent, or concerning chest pain needs prompt care, because heart problems can feel like reflux.
