Jan Ellen Webster Stringer
January 19, 1947 – October 7, 2026

Jan Ellen Webster Stringer, age 79, passed away on October 7, 2026, at Huntsville Hospital.
Born to the late Eugene Smith Webster and Zinnia Headrick Webster, Jan graduated from Pisgah High School in 1965 and later from Athens State University. She worked for Campbell Pontiac in Scottsboro, Alabama, for many years before beginning her teaching career at Section High School, where she touched the lives of many students before retiring in 2009.
Jan enjoyed gardening, cooking, shopping, attending Auburn basketball games, and spending time with her beloved dogs, Libby Ann and Cliff. She also had a heart for serving others and volunteered with the Upper Sand Mountain Parish for many years.
Jan was a devoted member of Section United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in many areas of church life and service.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jim Stringer; her sister, Peg Webster McDonald, and her husband, Marion McDonald; and her nephews, Randy Webster (Casie), Thomas Webster (Teresa), and Danny Warrenfells.
She is also survived by her great-nephews, Caleb Webster (Lauren) and Josh Webster (Claire); great-nieces, Bailey Warrenfells and Lindsay Miller (David); great-great-nephews, Scout and Hudson Webster; and great-great-niece, Madalyn Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Bobby, Bentley, Tommy, and Doug Webster; and her sisters, Judy Webster and Derreal Webster Lusk.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care in Scottsboro for the kindness, care, and devotion they showed Jan.
Visitation will be held at Section Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Section United Methodist Church, with a graveside service to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Sand Mountain Parish, 24474 Alabama Highway 75, Sylvania, AL 35988.

Tammy Barnes Stevens, a woman larger than life itself, left an unforgettable mark on everyone blessed enough to know her. Tammy’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She shared her life with Blanca Holladay Gifford, and together they built a beautiful blended family, raising four children and creating a home filled with love, laughter, memories and beautiful choices that come with a family that means everything to you.

Tammy’s children were her heart:

Jett Stevens and his wife, Addy, and their children, Jimah, Jax, Luna, Lynnix, Arlo and Axton
Stormy Stevens and his wife, Natalie, and their children, Wilder and Rainer
Olivia Edmiston and Payton and their child, Ebra
Andrew Gifford and his wife, Morgan, and their children, Mayzee, Baylor and Landree

Tammy was also deeply loved by her mother, Joy, and her sisters Donna (Kevin), Misty (Doug), and Kristy (Chad). Her family bonds were an important part of who she was and she treasured the relationships she shared with them.

She was a beloved aunt to her nieces, Mylie, Augusta, Savannah and Mallori, and her nephews, Gabe, Seth, and Clay and a cherished great-aunt to Arleigh, Truleigh, Luke, Chaneleigh, C**t and Reece.
The love, laughter and memories she created with them will remain a part of their lives forever.

Tammy was generous. She was passionate. She was funny. She was full of life. She was fiercely loyal. She was the person so many could count on to make an ordinary moment unforgettable.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Barnes, and her nephew, Brody Rudloff.

There will be laughter when we remember her,
There will be tears because we miss her,
