Today, I attended the Community Resource Fair at Calvary Baptist Church themed, “Building a Stronger Community ~ Together,” in Magee. The event began with all vendors gathering in the sanctuary to share brief highlights about their programs, services, and resources available to the community.

Following the presentations, attendees had the opportunity to visit each table, ask questions, and learn more about the support and services offered. I was honored to provide health screenings and share information on the importance of preventive care and knowing your numbers.

This was a wonderful event that connected community members with valuable resources, services, and opportunities while fostering collaboration among local organizations. It was encouraging to see so many people engaged, asking questions, building connections, and taking proactive steps toward improving their health and overall well-being.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Alpha Delta Rho Omega Chapter hosted their inspiring “A New Beginning” Mother-Daughter Brunch & Period Poverty Awareness Finale today. This meaningful event brought together mothers and daughters, for a day centered around empowerment, education, and support.

Special guest speakers Toni T. Holloway and Osinachi Nwosu with The Community Noise Lab at Brown University School of Public Health provided valuable information on “PERIOD: Youth Exploration Guide to Menstrual Health”, a free menstrual health program for young girls.

Following the brunch, the young ladies gathered to assemble 240 Dignity Bags, which will be donated to the Simpson County School District.

Today’s Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative, Inc., (SEMRHI) Senior Wellness Event was a great success!

This month’s focus was Stroke Awareness and Prevention. Dr. Roberts from our Women’s Health Center shared valuable information on Women’s Health and Mental Health, providing attendees with important insights and encouragement for healthy living.

As always, participants were highly engaged and truly enjoyed the event. Attendees received health screenings upon arrival, had fun playing bingo, and took home gift bags along with fresh fruit boxes generously donated by Mississippi SHINE Project, making it a truly impactful and enjoyable day of wellness and connection.

Divine Home Care Services had an awesome turnout today at the Sumrall Senior Health Fair held at the Sumrall Senior Center.

We provided health screenings and shared information with attendees about services offered through Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative, Inc.(SEMRHI). Several other vendors were also present, offering valuable resources, education, and support for seniors and the community.

It was an awesome event, and everyone truly enjoyed themselves. Drawings for door prizes added even more excitement and fun to the day.

Today was all about the members of the Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi (REPM)! They held their monthly meeting, themed around Senior Health and Wellness. I had the opportunity to speak with attendees about two important May health observances: Stroke Awareness and High Blood Pressure Awareness. As part of the event, we provided healthy parfaits for snacks, conducted health screenings, and enjoyed a few exciting games of Bingo.
The Retired Education Personnel of Mississippi is a dedicated organization that advocates for Mississippi educators by offering benefits, social opportunities, active, pension protection and overall well-being.

The Jasper Adult Club (JAC) of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. hosted its 1st Annual 2026 Community Wellness and Safety Event today at Bay Springs City Hall.

This year’s theme, “Together We Thrive,” focused on education, wellness, safety, and economic development seminars for individuals and families of all ages. The event brought together vendors, community service organizations, and local businesses to provide valuable resources and information to the community.

It was a great day of connection, education, and community empowerment.

Divine Home Care Services hosted its 1st Annual Health Fair at the Purvis Senior Center, and it was a wonderful success!

There was a great turnout, with several vendors in attendance providing valuable resources and information to the community. I had the opportunity to conduct health screenings, helping attendees stay informed about their health and wellness.

The seniors were especially excited about the event, they enjoyed engaging with the vendors and had a great time winning door prizes. Overall, it was a day filled with connection, education, and community engagement!

Late post….

The Jefferson Davis County Community Impact Coalition hosted a great Town Hall Meeting on Thursday night. Community members came together to share perspectives, address local concerns, and collaborate on solutions that support positive change.

Guest speakers highlighted key topics including Health & Safety Priorities, Transportation Access, and Food Security. The discussion emphasized the importance of supporting families and strengthening communities in need.

During the event, I briefly provided education on healthy eating habits and the five food groups, reinforcing the importance of nutrition in overall wellness. We were also joined by community partners and vendors, including Rhonda James with MTFC and Latonya Ramsey with MSU Extension, who shared valuable resources and information.

Overall, it was a meaningful and impactful gathering.

Health is my portion. My body is God’s temple, and I choose what builds me up. I am committed to caring for my body, nurturing my mind, and strengthening my spirit.

I was truly honored to serve as a speaker at the 3rd Annual Sneaker P.I.N.K. (Praying • Interceding • Nurturing • Karing) Prayer Breakfast. It was a powerful and uplifting experience that brought together women of all ages in unity and purpose. I had the opportunity to share the importance of knowing your numbers and listening to your body, two key components to maintaining overall health and wellness. Health screenings were also provided, and attendees received personal care bags as a reminder to prioritize themselves.

As women, we often carry many responsibilities, pouring into others while placing our own needs on the back burner. But the time is NOW! It is essential that we make a conscious decision to prioritize our well-being—mind, body, and soul.

Today, I had the opportunity to partner with El Pueblo for their “My Heart! Well-Being Is Not a Luxury, It Is an Opportunity” community event. Therapist, Erika Ross, shared valuable tips on managing stress and anxiety.

During the event, I educated attendees on the importance of regular health screenings and provided blood pressure and glucose testing. We had an excellent turnout with over 40 participants in attendance. I also distributed blood pressure monitors and glucose testing supplies to support ongoing self-care.

It’s always a great time to partner with Community Health Workers, Carolina Bermudez, who share the same passion for helping people and making a difference in the community.

With April being Stress Awareness Month, it’s a great reminder of how important it is to prioritize both our mental and physical health.
