In honor of National Dairy Month🐄, we decided to take a little peek into the origin of the "black cow" drink.
We found many different stories and timelines, but they are not all the same🕵️. After some digging, we came across a fun fact that said the Black Cow drink originated in a small town in Colorado. The owner of a small brewery watched moonlight hit the snow, and said that to him it looked like ice cream floating in soda. So he decided to combine vanilla ice cream and root beer, calling it a "black cow mountain."
Later of course different variations of the drink sprouted to life, such as:
The Purple Cow: Grape Soda and Vanilla Ice Cream 💜
The Orange Cow: Orange Soda and Vanilla Ice Cream 🧡
The Pink Cow: Strawberry Soda and Vanilla Ice Cream 🩷
The Brown Cow: Coca-Cola or Pepsi and Vanilla Ice Cream 🤎
The classic Black Cow: Root Beer and Vanilla Ice Cream 🖤
The beverage hit peak popularity in the '20s and '30s. Now.... We don't know if the story holds water (or soda 😉), but we are anxious to hear our community's opinion! How do you prefer to drink your cows? What is YOUR favorite flavor combo? 😋
