A lot of people have asked how we came up with the name and logo for Riverstone Oasis, so I wanted to share a little bit of the meaning behind it 🌿
The name itself starts with something very close to our hearts—water. My family has always been drawn to it. Whether it’s the river, creek, or lake, that’s where you’ll find us spending time together. It was even important for us to be married by the water—we tied the knot along the Allegheny River. That’s where “River” comes from.
“Stone” represents massage therapy—especially hot stone work, which is such a grounding and therapeutic part of what we offer.
And “Oasis”… that part came from my husband, Sonny. I had been struggling to find the right word to complete the name, and he suggested it. The moment he said it, I knew it was exactly right. I’ve always wanted to create a space where people can truly relax, be themselves, and step away from the outside world—even if it’s just for a little while. An oasis.
The logo brings all of that together, but there’s even more meaning woven into it.
The river is shaped like an “S” for our last name, Schmader. The four stones represent our children—Kason, Nyla, Kyra, and Myles. The trees symbolize our little family as well—two for Sonny and me, and one in remembrance of my grandmother.
She holds a very special place in this story. She’s actually the reason I found massage therapy in the first place. One day, while I was in school for business, she called me and said, “Precious Darling, I did something today and I think you’d really like it—you have an appointment on this day at this time.” That was my very first massage… and it changed everything. From that moment on, my path shifted.
While she isn’t here to see this dream come to life, she’s a part of it in a way that will always remain.
So when you see Riverstone Oasis, it’s more than just a name or a logo—it’s family, its purpose, and it’s a place built with meaning behind every detail. 💚
