Last week wasn’t about Type 1.
It was about lake days, bravery, adventure, and childhood.
Diabetes came with us like it always does—but for once, it rode in the back seat. 💙

This stack represents every Omnipod we currently have that has been recalled. For families living with Type 1 Diabetes, these aren’t just supplies—they’re peace of mind, safety, and daily lifelines. Hoping for a quick resolution and replacement for all affected families. 💙

May is Celiac Awareness Month 💙

For Warren, celiac disease means being careful with every bite because even a small amount of gluten can make him sick. It’s not a choice, it’s a lifelong autoimmune condition.

Awareness and understanding make a big difference. We’re proud to stand with all celiac warriors this month and every day. 💚

I have to share this because it’s been on my heart. God is so good.

Yesterday morning, I somehow locked my keys in my car… which I’ve never done, and honestly didn’t think was even possible with remote start. While I was waiting for Mike to come unlock it so I could take the boys to school, I opened Warren’s Omnipod app.

He only had 14 units of insulin left.

That’s not good—he would have run out while he was at school, and it could have turned into a serious situation. The thing is, I wouldn’t have even thought to check. His pod wasn’t scheduled to be changed until that night, and he’s never been that low before.

I truly believe that moment wasn’t random. Being stuck there gave me time to check, and I felt that nudge to look when I did. It ended up preventing what could have been a really scary day for my boy.

Just a reminder that sometimes the inconveniences aren’t just inconveniences 💙

“May he reign under God’s protection forever. May your unfailing love and faithfulness watch over him.”

Coming off a holiday weekend and these numbers?! 🙌

91% in range, zero lows, and an average of 132 — we’ll take that all day. Holidays can be full of extra treats, schedule changes, and a lot of guesswork, but this just shows how much hard work and dedication goes in behind the scenes.

So proud of how far we’ve come and how strong this kid is every single day. 💙

Sometimes the diabetes stars align, and both the Dexcom sensor and Omnipod get changed on the same day. 🎯 This is great for Warren because he gets a little “break” from his devices—but for momma, it’s a whole lot of nerve-wracking! 😅 The anxiety is always at an all-time high, but we know these steps are what keep our boy healthy.

Tonight, we changed both devices—and yes, the pod had to be replaced again (because of course 😫)—but that’s just part of the journey sometimes. The absolute best part? Warren led our bedtime prayers tonight, and in that moment, I just knew everything was going to be okay. ❤️

Big step for this T1D Warrior today 💙

Warren started learning how to do his own pod change. When it came time for the poke, he made sure to grab my hand and hold it tight. 🫶

So proud of his bravery and growing independence. One step at a time.

Huge thank you to Custom Type One for giving this T1D family some much-needed peace of mind. 💙

Relying solely on my phone for nighttime alerts was always scary and nerve-wracking. I never truly slept, I just worried. Now with the SugarPixel, I can simply look up and instantly see his numbers. And the alarms? They are the scariest, best sounds I’ve ever heard.

Anything that helps us rest a little easier while keeping Warren safe is a win in our book. Here’s to small discoveries that make life with Type 1 just a little bit easier. 💙

Sometimes it feels like our bad memories can be so much more vivid than the good ones. Without warning, the day Warren was diagnosed plays in my mind, and for a moment it feels like we’re right back there.

We went to urgent care thinking he just had a virus. Then the doctor told me he had type 1 diabetes and was in DKA. The ambulance ride. Hearing how critical my boy was. Being told he needed to go to PICU right away because he was so sick. Wondering what would have happened if I had waited longer.

Those memories still feel raw sometimes. It will be a year in April, and I can still feel my heart breaking when I think about it. I can still hear the beeps and the cries. But what I’m also learning is how much strength has come from that day. How much courage Warren has shown. How much we’ve all grown.

We have made it through every hard moment so far, and God has been faithful through all of it. Even when the hard memories creep in, there is so much good, so much progress, and so many blessings to hold onto. We are choosing to focus on that — on how far he’s come and how strong he is.

“Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”Psalm 34:14i

Some weeks, we win.
And some weeks, diabetes and celiac do.

This week has been the second.

It’s so hard watching your child feel left out, feel different, feel like something is wrong with him. The questions he asks cut straight to my heart:
Why does this have to happen to me?
Why am I different?
What did I do to deserve this?

I answer the best I can, but the truth is… I ask myself those same questions.
Why did this happen?
Was it something I did?

It’s hard to stop asking why when you know you may never get an answer.

So for now, we live by faith—faith that one day we will win against these diseases every single week, every single day, every single minute.

Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
