Honoring Juneteenth ❤️🖤💚

Today, we recognize Juneteenth a day commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States and celebrating freedom, resilience, culture, and progress.

Juneteenth is also a reminder of the importance of creating spaces where every individual feels seen, heard, valued, and supported. Mental health care should be accessible, inclusive, and culturally responsive for all members of our community.

As we honor this day, we acknowledge the strength of those who came before us and the ongoing work toward equity, understanding, and well-being.

At Cranberry Psychological Center we remain committed to fostering a safe and welcoming environment where healing and growth can happen for everyone.

5 Simple Ways to Beat Anxiety

Feeling anxious? Try these proven strategies to calm your mind and body:

🌿 1. Focus on Your Breathing
Take a slow breath in for 4 counts, hold for 4, and exhale for 6. Repeat several times to help signal safety to your nervous system.

🚶 2. Get Moving
A short walk, stretching, or light exercise can help release tension and reduce stress hormones.

🧠 3. Challenge Anxious Thoughts
Ask yourself:

* Is this thought a fact or a fear?
* What evidence do I have?
* What would I tell a friend in this situation?

📵 4. Take a Break from Overstimulation
Step away from social media, news, or anything that may be increasing your stress. Give your brain space to reset.

💙 5. Ground Yourself in the Present
Try the 5-4-3-2-1 technique:

* 5 things you can see
* 4 things you can touch
* 3 things you can hear
* 2 things you can smell
* 1 thing you can taste

Anxiety thrives on “what ifs.” Grounding techniques help bring your focus back to the present moment. Anxiety is a normal human experience, but you don’t have to manage it alone. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength.

Social Media & Mental Health

Social media can help us feel connected but it can also impact our mental health in ways we don’t always notice.

✨ Constant comparison
✨ Pressure to appear “perfect”
✨ Doom-scrolling and information overload
✨ Increased anxiety, stress, or low self-esteem

Taking breaks, setting boundaries, and being mindful of how content makes you feel can support healthier habits online.

If social media is affecting your mood, sleep, or confidence, you’re not alone and support can help. Therapy offers a safe space to explore these feelings and build healthier relationships with technology.

💚 Your mental health matters—online and offline.

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline. ❤️

Loss can bring waves of emotions like sadness, anger, confusion, guilt, numbness, or even moments of peace. Grief looks different for everyone, and healing is not about “moving on,” but learning how to move forward while honoring what matters most.

If you’re navigating grief, give yourself permission to:
✨ Feel what you feel without judgment
✨ Ask for support when you need it
✨ Prioritize rest and self-care
✨ Take healing one day at a time

You don’t have to carry grief alone. Support, guidance, and healthy coping strategies can make a difference during difficult seasons.

At Cranberry Psychological Center, we’re here to support individuals and families through life’s most challenging moments.

📍 If grief feels overwhelming, reaching out is a sign of strength.

Stepping outside, feeling the sunshine, listening to birds, or simply taking a deep breath in fresh air can help calm the mind and reduce stress. Mental wellness isn’t always about big changes sometimes it starts with a short walk, a quiet moment outside, or reconnecting with the world around us.

This World Environment Day, consider making time for both the planet and yourself. 💚

Summer Reset: Phrases That Build Emotionally Healthy Kids! 🧒 ☀️ School will be out soon and kids will be home all day. New routines, parenting, and keeping them busy can be challenging. While we are home for the summer months we can focus on how are children feel and heard. Small changes in language can help children feel heard, supported, and emotionally safe.

Bubbles:

* “Tell me more.”
* “I can see why that upset you.”
* “Mistakes help us learn.”
* “You’re allowed to feel disappointed.”
* “How can I support you?”
* “We can handle this together.”
