Face shape is the advice everybody gives, and it is not wrong. It is just incomplete. The frames people still love a year later usually got chosen for how they actually live.

If you are on a job site or chasing a toddler, you want something that stays put and can take a hit. If you are in and out of meetings, weight matters more than you would guess by hour eight. If your prescription is on the stronger side, frame size changes how thick the lenses end up, so going smaller can make a real difference in how they look and feel.

Then there is fit, which is the part that gets skipped. Frames that slide down your nose or pinch behind your ears end up in a drawer no matter how good they looked in the mirror.

That is why we would rather you try a few on and let us fit them properly. Call us at (865) 584-0905 for hours at the location nearest you.

August is Children's Eye Health and Safety Month, which tends to bring little kids to mind. We would like to talk about the ones who are nearly grown.

Most teenagers do not announce that the whiteboard has gone blurry. When vision changes gradually, they assume everyone sees the way they do, so it never occurs to them to mention it.

The signs turn up somewhere else. Headaches after a couple of hours of homework. Sitting closer to the TV than they used to. Squinting at a phone or holding it noticeably close. Losing interest in reading. Saying the classroom lights bother them.

Vision shifts quickly through the teenage years, and a prescription from two years ago may not be doing much anymore. That matters more now, between the screen time, the homework load, and a new driver's license.

School is starting back across East Tennessee, so this is a good stretch to check. Call us at (865) 584-0905 and we will work around practice and class.

If you haven't had an eye exam since last summer, or if you're having trouble remembering the last time you went, July is a good reminder that the calendar has a way of moving fast in East Tennessee.

Comprehensive eye exams are recommended annually for most adults, and more frequently for patients managing diabetes, glaucoma risk, dry eye, or age-related changes. Waiting until something feels wrong is often waiting too long for conditions that don't give early warning signs.

EyeCare Optical makes scheduling easy. Ten locations. And a team that genuinely enjoys helping people take care of their eyes. Book before August fills up. Call (865) 584-0905.

Wherever you are in East Tennessee, there's an EyeCare Optical location close to you. And regardless of which one you walk into, the standard of care is the same: board-certified physicians and doctors of optometry, comprehensive exams, advanced diagnostics, and a direct connection to the specialists at Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun when you need them.

We know you're busy. You pick the location that's convenient for you, close to work, close to your kids' school, or simply on the way. Vision care shouldn't require a long drive or a long wait.

Find your nearest EyeCare Optical location and call us at (865) 584-0905.

We get compliments on our frames all the time. And we love it. But the part of an EyeCare Optical visit that matters most happens before you get to frame selection.

Every comprehensive exam at our offices includes a full eye health evaluation: screening for changes in your retina, your optic nerve, your tear film, and more. We use Optomap retinal imaging, which allows our doctors to see a wide-field view of the retina without dilation in many cases.

You can have a perfectly stylish pair of glasses and still have early glaucoma. Or a subtle retinal change that should be monitored. Or a dry eye condition that's affecting your vision quality more than your prescription ever will. The exam is where we find those things.

When you're ready for new frames, we hope you'll love them. We also hope you'll let our doctors check on the eyes behind them. Call (865) 584-0905.

July in East Tennessee is not easy on eyewear. The heat. The humidity. The constant movement between outdoor air and the polar chill of every air-conditioned building in the county. Your frames deal with all of it.

We carry Ray-Ban and Oakley because those brands engineer for real-world conditions, not just aesthetics. Lightweight materials that don't slip in humidity. Lenses that handle polarization properly. Frame fits that stay comfortable when the temperature is working against you.

Come in and let our team help you find a pair that fits your face, your prescription, and the East Tennessee summer. We have locations across the region, so there's likely one close to you. Call (865) 584-0905.

August comes fast when you're a college student, and eye exams are rarely at the top of the summer to-do list. But between long hours reading, late nights on screens, and a new semester's worth of lectures and labs, your vision is doing a lot of work.

If you're heading back to UTK, Pellissippi, Carson-Newman, or anywhere else in East Tennessee this fall, now is a good time to get an exam scheduled while you're still home and likely still on a parent's insurance plan. A lot changes between freshman and senior year, and your prescription may have too.

EyeCare Optical has locations across the region, so there's probably one close to wherever you're spending the summer. Call (865) 584-0905.

Imagine coming in thinking you're just overdue for new glasses. Your prescription has drifted a little, so we update it. But during the comprehensive exam, our doctor also notices early signs of elevated eye pressure in one eye, something that would never have shown up on a basic prescription check.

That finding leads to a referral to the ophthalmologists at Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun for further evaluation. You leave being monitored appropriately. No vision loss. No crisis. Just early detection doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

This is what a comprehensive eye exam at EyeCare Optical actually looks like. Not just a prescription update, but a full health evaluation that includes screening for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic changes, and more. When something needs more attention, we have the specialist connection to make that next step easy. Call (865) 584-0905.

When you come into EyeCare Optical for an eye exam, you're not seeing a technician. You're seeing a doctor.

EyeCare Optical is part of the same family of practices as Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun, one of East Tennessee's most established ophthalmology groups with over 60 years of history serving Knoxville and the surrounding communities. Our patients are examined by the same board-certified physicians and doctors of optometry connected to that practice.

What that means for you: an exam at EyeCare Optical isn't a prescription check. It's a comprehensive evaluation that includes screening for glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and cataracts. If something requires a specialist, we have a direct connection to the right care.

That's the difference between EyeCare Optical and a chain. Come see us at any of our 10 East Tennessee locations. Call (865) 584-0905.

Ninety-degree heat, 76% humidity outside, then stepping into full air conditioning every time you walk through a door. Your contact lenses notice every one of those transitions.

Dry eye flares, increased lens awareness, and end-of-day irritation are all more common in summer for contact lens wearers, and East Tennessee's climate is particularly good at triggering all three. July is also Dry Eye Awareness Month, which makes it a good time to check in on how your lenses are actually feeling.

A few things that help: daily disposables in summer reduce the protein buildup that makes lenses uncomfortable faster in heat, rewetting drops approved for contacts can get you through the afternoon, and making sure your prescription and lens fit are current keeps you in the right lens for your eyes.

If your contacts have been uncomfortable lately, come see us. We offer contact lens fittings at all 10 of our East Tennessee locations. Call (865) 584-0905.
