😑Boredom isn’t the enemy—it’s actually a powerful tool for your mind.

🧘When you let yourself slow down and sit with nothing to do, your brain switches into a mode that sparks creativity, reflection, and deeper meaning.

📲The constant distraction our phones give us shuts down the part of the brain that helps us understand ourselves, which can fuel anxiety, depression, and that hollow “something’s missing” feeling.

✌️Embracing a little boredom can help you reconnect with your thoughts, your purpose, and your overall well‑being.

Why does the heart stiff in with time?

🍰It has a lot to do with being exposed to a lot of glucose when you’re eating a lot of refined sugar and refined carbohydrates.

🍩Too much glucose causes a chemical reaction (glycation) which leads to stiffening of tissues, like the ones around your heart.

💔The heart can’t really respond to stress while it’s stiff, and that plays a role in heart attacks.

🏃‍♀️Moving muscles need glucose, so exercise is one of the best things you can do to move glucose out of your vascular system.

To learn more about how you can strengthen your heart, make it more flexible, or book a fitness consultation, call or text 615.397.8348!

Heavy Metal Toxicity: What You Should Know

Heavy metals like aluminum, lead, and mercury are commonly found in our environment, food, and water.

Over time, these metals can accumulate in the body.

Excess heavy metals may trigger inflammation and an immune response.
Symptoms can include:

Headaches
Fatigue
Brain fog
Muscle and joint discomfort

Long-term exposure has been associated with more serious health concerns, including cardiovascular disease and autoimmune disorders.

Chelation is the process of helping the body eliminate heavy metals. It can be done medically or supported naturally through certain foods.

Foods that may support natural chelation include:

1. Cilantro (Coriandrum sativum)

2. Chlorella (A green algae high in chlorophyll)

3. Sulfur-Rich Vegetables (Garlic, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage)
Aid liver detoxification and help eliminate heavy metals.

4. Eggs and Fish
Contain good sources of amino acids like cysteine and methionine, which have sulfur groups that bind to heavy metals.

5. Brazil Nuts
Rich in selenium, which helps restore minerals lost during detox and supports antioxidant defenses.

6. Dark Green Vegetables & Herbs (Parsley, alfalfa, kale, and other leafy greens)
Help alkalize the blood and support detoxification, making it easier for the body to eliminate waste.

7. Food-Grade Activated Charcoal
Though not a food, it’s sometimes recommended in detox regimens to bind toxins and heavy metals in the gut.

Bananas are healthy, but they contain an enzyme called polyphenol oxidase (PPO), which is the same enzyme that produces the browning of bananas.

Studies have shown that PPO can reduce the absorption of flavanols from other foods, such as blueberries, cocca, and apples, by as much as 85%.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

🍎Flavanols are part of the broader polyphenol family and are associated with:

♥️ Heart health (improving blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar control).

🤔Cognitive function (protecting against age-related decline).

😣Antioxidant activity that helps combat oxidative stress (University of Reading).

🍌Bananas can be a part of a healthy diet, especially for its potassium, fiber, and natural sugars.

💪Bananas on their own are still a good source of polyphenols and can be part of a healthy diet, especially for potassium, fiber, and natural sugars (University of Reading).

🤚 50-70 million adults in the US have a sleep disorder.

🤚 40% have reported unintentionally fallen asleep during the day at least once in the preceding month.

🤚 30% of adults have reported insomnia.

So why aren’t Americans sleeping? For most, it is too much stress & not enough self care like exercise and receiving massage therapy.

It might not come as a surprise to learn that massage, in many forms, supports good quality sleep. After all, many of you have probably fallen asleep on the massage table at some point.

The mechanism by which massage helps to establish a more organized sleep pattern isn’t fully understood. 🤔

However, studies consistently report that subjects who are massaged (with a variety of modalities) experience deeper, more restorative, less disturbed sleep. 😴 😴

Massage has also been shown to reduce pain-sensitizing neurotransmitters.

The bodywork doesn’t have to take place directly before sleep either; clients report better sleep even several hours after a massage. 😲💪

In other words, if you have difficulty sleeping, massage can help. 👊

A good night’s sleep is only a phone call away! Call or text 615-397-8348 to book your appointment. ✌️
