Great info!!

Ever planted a seed and… nothing happened? Or moved a seedling outside and watched it sulk for a week? 😅 The secret might be how you’re planting—direct sowing vs transplanting makes a bigger difference than most gardeners realize.

Direct sowing means planting seeds straight into your garden soil. Crops like carrots, radishes, beans, peas, corn, and spinach love this because they grow fast and don’t like their roots disturbed. Planting them where they’ll live saves them stress and often leads to stronger, straighter roots (hello, better carrots 🥕).

Transplanting is when you start seeds indoors and move the seedlings outside later. This works best for warm-season or slower-growing veggies like tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, broccoli, cabbage, and cauliflower. Starting indoors gives them a head start on the season and helps you control temperature, light, and moisture during those fragile early weeks.

So which is “better”? Neither—it’s about matching the method to the plant. Think of direct sowing as the low-drama, plant-it-and-forget-it option for hardy crops, and transplanting as giving your tender veggies a cozy nursery before they face the real world. 🌱
