You probably wouldn’t think brushing your teeth could help protect your brain… but stroke prevention starts in more places than most people realize. 🧠🪥

🦷 Keeping up with oral health
😴 Getting quality sleep
👥 Staying socially connected

🫀 Paying attention to risk factors like blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes

Stroke prevention is not always about dramatic changes. Sometimes it’s the simple, consistent things we do every day that matter most.

A hospital is one of the few places where hundreds of people with completely different roles come together each day with the same purpose: caring for others. 💙

At Sharon Hospital, it takes far more than what patients see during an appointment or hospital stay. It takes teamwork happening behind every hallway, desk, phone call, shift change and patient interaction to keep care moving forward.

During Hospital Week, we celebrated the people who make that possible every single day. Thank you to every team member for the compassion, energy, resilience and heart you bring to our patients, visitors and community. You are celebrated not only this week, but every week. 🏥✨

Neurosurgeon Dr. David Penn answers an important question in just 60 seconds: What is a glioma? 🧠

Gliomas are a type of tumor that begin in the brain’s supportive glial cells. Symptoms can vary depending on the tumor’s size and location, but may include persistent headaches, seizures, vision changes, memory issues or difficulty with balance and speech.

Early evaluation and treatment can make a meaningful difference.

This Brain Tumor Awareness Month, take a moment to learn the signs, understand the importance of neurological care and help spread awareness. 💙

There’s something incredibly special about welcoming a baby into the world, especially during Mother’s Day weekend. At Sharon Hospital, we had the privilege of helping families meet, hold and fall in love with their newest little bundles of joy for the very first time. 👶✨

To help celebrate the occasion, new moms received a special Northwell Health onesie for their babies as a reminder of such a meaningful milestone!

We’re grateful to be part of these first chapters and honored to support families through some of life’s most emotional, joyful and unforgettable moments. ❤️

Close to home should still mean high standards. 💙

At Sharon Hospital, patients and families can feel confident knowing safe, high quality care is right here in their community.

Sharon Hospital earned another “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group and continues its “Straight A” status with top safety grades every cycle since Spring 2024.

For patients, this means the hospital is consistently focused on the things that matter most.
Preventing infections.
Reducing errors.
Strengthening safety practices.
Protecting patients at every stage of care.

“Maintaining Straight A status since Spring 2024 demonstrates the consistency of that commitment and our focus on continuous improvement for the patients and families we serve,” said Christina McCulloch, President at Sharon Hospital.

We are so grateful for the people who make this possible every day and for the trust our community places in us! 🏥

Meet Dana, one of the incredible labor and delivery nurses at Sharon Hospital. 💙

Before a baby’s first cry, there’s already so much happening behind the scenes. Dana is preparing delivery rooms, checking equipment, reviewing patient charts, monitoring moms and babies, coordinating with care teams and making sure every detail is ready before a patient ever walks through the door. 🩺👶

In labor and delivery, preparation matters just as much as the moments families remember most. It’s constant attention, quick thinking, compassion and care all working together in real time.

Then comes the part everyone sees: supporting parents through some of the biggest, most emotional moments of their lives and helping welcome new life into the world.

This National Nurses Week, we’re celebrating Dana and nurse whose care starts long before delivery and continues long after. Thank you for everything you do for our patients, families and community. ✨
