We at Latitude love to help our patients communicate in whatever way is best suited to their needs. Canaan uses a dedicated speech generating device (we call it a talker) to communicate his daily wants and needs. He is able to request a few different things consistently as well as introduce himself and we are working on expanding the vocabulary on his device as he progresses.
Great job sweet boy! We are so proud of you:)

October is AAC Awareness Month!

These numbers are seriously mind blowing. I use this stat all the time when coaching teams because it’s such a powerful reminder!

And this isn’t about shaming anyone! It’s about keeping our eyes on what truly matters: consistent, rich modeling – without expectation.

So important for us to think about and share with others. 🖤

On the first day of class, the inaugural cohort of the OBU MS-SLP program was surprised by a special guest: Kevin Simmons, Singing SLP.

Kevin shared a heartfelt prayer for the students and faculty, and led us in a devotional from 1 Kings 19:8-14 that reminded us to “take it S.L.O.W." by:

S) being silent and listening to God

L) listening to God’s whispers in our lives

O) being obedient to God’s plan for our lives

W) wondering at what God has done and is doing in the world

These words were inspirational as our students begin their first week in the program. Thank you, Kevin!
