Parents, if you need an official medical excuse to kick the kids outside this weekend... here it is! ๐ฅณ
Saturday, September 5th is National Play Outside Day, and as your pediatric vision team, we couldn't be more excited. Beyond burning off extra energy, spending time outdoors is one of the easiest, most effective natural ways to protect your childโs vision and slow down nearsightedness (myopia) progression.
The Science of Sunshine & Sight:
When kids spend time outdoors, natural sunlight triggers a healthy release of dopamine in the retina. This process helps regulate normal eye growth and prevents the eyeball from elongating, which is what causes blurry distance vision!
Aim for 2 hours of outdoor time daily to keep their eyes healthy, resilient, and relaxed.
