Ken Kirby

Kenneth Paul (Ken) Kirby, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026, at his home in Bethel Acres surrounded by family. Ken was born on January 6, 1940, in Caddo, Oklahoma, to Monnie Marie (Tucker) Kirby and Silas Irrie Kirby, the fourth of six children. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1958. Ken married Maelena Saar in March of 1960. They were married 19 years and had two daughters, Melinda Carol on February 20, 1961, and Cindi Ann on November 2, 1962.

Ken married Erma (Collett) Faulk on November 9, 1987. They began their married life in Prague, Oklahoma, later relocating to Shawnee then Bethel Acres where they enjoyed their country home and spending lots of time making memories with their cherished grandchildren, children and other family members. He had a talent for working with his hands and could always come up with a way to fix anything that was broken or invent an easier way to do a task. He was ornery, witty, and never afraid to say exactly what was on his mind. He was such a sweet partner and more often than not called Erma his Angel Pie. As a young boy and into adulthood until health issues robbed him of the majority of his ability to hear, Ken loved to c**n hunt with his lifelong friends, spending many hours roaming the woods and countryside with them and his beloved hounds. He retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas Company in 1995 after 35 years of service. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior when he was 39 years old at First Baptist Church of Harrah, Oklahoma, and always regretted that he hadn't done it much sooner. His fondest wish and prayer to the end of his life was that his children and grandchildren would do the same before it is eternally too late.

Ken is survived by his wife of 38 years, Erma, his daughter Cindi Ann Watson and partner, Jerry Duncan of Yukon, OK, step-daughters Shelly Harrell and husband Curtis Harrell and Lisa Gifford all of Shawnee, OK, son-in-law Steve Halsted of Corpus Christi, TX, sister Peggy Johnson and husband, Rollie Johnson of Yukon, Oklahoma, sister and brother-in-law Lawana McKinley and husband, Perry McKinley of McLoud, Oklahoma. Joe Wayne Flowers

Joe Wayne Flowers, 87, of Meeker, Oklahoma, left behind a life well lived and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 26th, 2026. Born on July 11, 1938, in Meeker, Oklahoma, Joe was the son of William Henry “Willie” Flowers and Murle Elizabeth Flowers.

A lifelong resident of Meeker, Joe graduated from Meeker High School in 1957 and spent his entire life on the family farm west of town. Farming was never just an occupation to Joe- it was his calling. His grandfather purchased the family farm in 1917 and in 1948 when Joe was just 10 years old, his father took over the dairy operation. From that point on, Joe milked cows and worked alongside his family, building a life rooted in hard work, faith, and dedication.

Joe often said he knew exactly what he wanted to do when he was a sophomore in high school- he wanted to be a dairy farmer. He proudly spent 60 years as an owner-operator of the family dairy business before retiring in 2005. In addition to the dairy, Joe also raised horses and hogs and took great pride in caring for the land and animals that had been a part of his family’s legacy for generations.

Joe was married to Margaret Ann Flowers in April of 1971. They were married 27 years until her death on January 4, 1998. Joe then later married Georgia Louise Flowers in October of 2001; they were married 19 years until her death on April 25, 2020.

Faith was the foundation of Joe’s life. He faithfully served as a deacon for most of his adult life and taught Sunday School for more than 35 years, impacting countless lives through his steady example and servant’s heart. He was a long-time member of Morning Star Baptist Church and most recently attended Mammoth Baptist Church.

Joe will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, quiet strength, deep faith, and love for his family, his church, and community. His legacy lives on not only in the land he cared for, but in the lives he touched through kindness, wisdom, and steadfast devotion.

Joe is survived by his sister, Donna Welch of Meeker, along with many beloved cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, two wives, and brother-in-law Cecil Welch.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Meeker Nursing Home for their amazing care and compassion, as well as the nurses with Valir Hospice for their kindness and support during Joe’s final days.

A public viewing will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00PM and Monday, June 1, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 7:00PM at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 10:00AM at Mammoth Baptist Church in Meeker, Oklahoma.

James "Jim" Kenneth Carter

James K. Carter (79) went Home to Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, on May 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer and a rare strain of pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his Dad, Kenneth Carter, and his Mom, Agnes Marie Benton Carter.

Jim left behind a loving and grateful family: wife Beverly, stepdaughter Kimberlee Jones, and grandchildren Zachary and Hannah; his sister Jan Hullum and her husband Lewis.

Jim loved his Lord and was a devoted and loving Watchman over his family. He was a good man with a kind heart, faithful and true to Beverly; a world of knowledge and encouragement for Kim; and a loving guide through life for Zach and Hannah.

Jim was appreciative, accepting, and faithful to his friends. He loved growing up in Shawnee and termed it “a really good time of his life.” He spoke frequently of his Dad and Mom, extended family, and friends from childhood thru college in Shawnee. Jim was a member of St. Benedict’s Church “the Church across the street” (where he was the ‘on call’ altar boy); and after grade school, attended St. Gregory’s thru Junior College on a baseball scholarship; then transferred to Oklahoma Baptist University on a golf scholarship. While attending OBU, he received a draft notice for the Vietnam War; choosing instead, to enlist and serve his three-year tour of duty, then returned to OBU, where his scholarship eligibility was reinstated, and graduated with a Finance Degree. After college, he worked for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency as a Bank Examiner for several years. Tired of traveling, he had been offered a position by a friend who owned a dealership in Midland/Odessa area to help run the dealership, which he did for a few years.

On a personal note from his wife Beverly:

Jim was living in the DFW area when we first met. He was a lease manager at a Toyota dealership and he happened to lease me a car in 1993. Our first date was Valentine’s Day of that year and he courted me with chocolate roses, then we married on October 21, 1995. Ours was an endearing love, not always perfect, but always faithful and true. We didn’t quarrel or argue, we disagreed (sometimes adamantly), but Jim always insisted on a ‘goodnight kiss.’ We never stayed disagreeable very long because we loved being with each other. “Love is patient, love is kind, … .” 1 Corinthians 13:4

James K was and will always be the “Love of my life.” There are no words as to how I long to see his blue eyes and sweet smile just one more time.

Rest peacefully, My Love, it is well with your soul.

Colossians 2:10 “… and in Him you have been made complete …;”

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so during a time of visitation at Walker Funeral & Cremation Service on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Texas at a later date. If you would like to be contacted with these details once they are determined, please email [email protected].
