Can I challenge something we've all believed at one time or another?

"If it hurts, something must be damaged."

Sometimes that's true.

But not always.

Think about a paper cut. Tiny injury...BIG reaction.

Now think about the bruise you discovered while getting dressed one morning. It was huge, but you never even felt it happen.

That's because pain isn't simply about damage. It's your body's way of trying to protect you.

I think that's one of the most amazing things about the human body.

It's constantly watching out for you, adapting, compensating, and trying to keep you moving, even if it occasionally overreacts.

I wrote this month's Things Your Body Wishes You Knew about that very idea.

And next time you're in my office, ask me about it. I could talk about this stuff all day. 😊

Did you know that pumping your feet (pull your toes towards your shin then point them straight out, while lying down) your body will produce nitric oxide( a natural vasodilator) ?
Do it for 4 minutes minimum to increase circulation in your lower limbs. .your welcome 🤗

Have you ever had one coworker who ended up doing everyone else's job?
That's kind of how muscles work.
When one muscle slacks off (or simply can't do its job well), another muscle often steps in to help. At first, it's a pretty smart solution.
But after weeks or months of doing extra work, that "helpful coworker" starts complaining.
Sometimes that complaint shows up as shoulder pain.
Sometimes it's neck tension.
Sometimes it's what feels like sciatica.
Here's the interesting part...
The muscle that's yelling isn't always the one that started the whole mess.
I think that's one of the coolest things about the human body. It's constantly adapting, protecting us, and finding ways to keep us moving, even if those solutions aren't perfect.

I wrote a new article about this idea and why I think our bodies are the world's best improvisers.

I'd love to know...what's the most surprising thing you've learned about your own body over the years?

P.S. Stay curious about your body. It has a story to tell.

Shoulder pain is one of the most common complaints I see in my practice.

What surprises many people is that the problem isn't always coming from the shoulder itself.

The neck, upper back, chest muscles, posture habits, and even breathing patterns can sometimes contribute to shoulder discomfort and limited movement.

That's one reason I rarely look at only the area that hurts. The body functions as a connected system.

I just published a new article explaining some of the hidden causes of shoulder pain and why treating the surrounding tissues can make a difference.

Have you ever had shoulder pain that seemed to come out of nowhere?
