🌟Employee Spotlight - Nicole Gasser, RN 🌟

Nicole is Dr Jains' right hand gal but you'll also see her in the treatment room or helping room patients. Nicole has been a huge help in Dr Jains' transition here at SCBS!

🟣How long have you worked at SCBS?
It was 3 years in April.

🟣What is your favorite part about working at SCBS?
I love getting to build relationships with our patients and caring for them in their hardest times.

🟣What made you decide to get into healthcare?
I didn't really have a pivotal event that made me decide to become a nurse, I feel like I just always wanted to.

🟣What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
Spend time with my family and kids. I don't have much free time with a 2-year-old and 9-month-old but when I do get some free time, I love to read.

🟣As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
For as long as I can remember it was a nurse, with a brief time of teacher.

🟣If you could remove one food from Earth and never see it again, what would it be and why?
Hmmmm, the first thing that came to my mind was beets. I have always hated beets . Once when I worked in a nursing home, I had a resident throw them at me. It was the one and only time I had white scrubs on.

🌟Employee Spotlight - Abigail "Abbey" Lisowe, MLS(ASCP) 🌟

Abbey works hard in our second floor labroatory. She's part of the team that process all the blood (and other) samples from SCBS and SIMA. We'd be lost without them and their hard work day after day!

🟣How long have you worked at SCBS?
June marks my one year anniversary!

🟣What is your favorite part about working at SCBS?
I love the small clinic feel. Even though I don't have patient contact, seeing patient's names over and over again on samples makes me feel more involved in their care which you don't get working at a large lab. Working with my sister, Amanda Fritz, is fun, too.

🟣What made you decide to get into healthcare?
All of my sisters were working or going to school for something in the medical field, so I did too. I started out majoring in radiation therapy, but I took an intro into clinical lab science class and quickly changed my major to that.

🟣What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I love spending time with my husband and kids. My kids are at the fun ages of 1 and 3.5 so I love getting to see them find joy and excitement in everything. This summer you will most likely find us hiking, gardening, or spending time with extended family.

🟣What’s your favorite vacation you’ve ever been on?
After graduating college, my friends and I went to Greece and Italy for 2.5 weeks. It was my last hurrah before entering the workforce, and I have so many great memories from the trip. I would encourage any new grad to go on a long vacation before starting your career.

🟣What’s our go-to coffee/drink order?
Caramel Frappuccino
