Back Pain That Won't Go Away? It Could Be Degenerative Disc Disease.

As we age, the discs that cushion the bones of the spine naturally lose height and flexibility. When that breakdown causes persistent low back pain, it's often called degenerative disc disease, or spondylosis. It sounds alarming, but it's actually one of the most common causes of back pain in adults.

Most people find real relief through physical therapy, activity adjustments, and injections. For cases that don't respond, surgical options like spinal fusion can stabilize the affected area and reduce pain significantly.

Getting an accurate diagnosis is the first step toward feeling better. Questions? Call 440-496-6994 to schedule an evaluation.

What Is a Herniated Disc?

A herniated disc happens when one of the cushions between your spinal bones slips out of place or breaks open. It can occur in the neck or lower back, and it often sends pain, numbness, or tingling into your arms or legs, well beyond where the disc itself sits.

The encouraging part: many people improve with physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, or targeted injections. When those options don't bring enough relief, surgical treatments like minimally invasive microendoscopic discectomy or disc replacement can get you moving again with less downtime than traditional surgery.

You don't have to just live with it. Questions? Call 440-496-6994 to schedule an evaluation.

Why Getting the Right Diagnosis Matters With Wrist Pain

Not all wrist and hand pain is carpal tunnel syndrome, and that distinction matters.

Conditions like basal joint arthritis or De Quervain's tenosynovitis can cause similar symptoms. In fact, carpal tunnel syndrome is one of the more commonly misdiagnosed hand conditions. Some patients test positive on a nerve study but have no numbness at all, meaning something else is going on.

At the Center for Orthopedics, Dr. Scott Ciaccia specializes in hand conditions and takes the time to find the real source of your pain before recommending any treatment. Getting the right answer first leads to better results and less time chasing the wrong solution.

That Tingling in Your Hands Might Be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Burning, numbness, or tingling in your fingers and hands? Waking up at night because your hands have fallen asleep? These are classic signs of carpal tunnel syndrome.

The carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway in your wrist. When the ligament surrounding it thickens over time, it puts pressure on the median nerve, the nerve responsible for feeling in your hand. That pressure is what causes the numbness and pain.

The good news: many cases respond well to splinting, anti-inflammatory medication, or cortisone injections. When those options aren't enough, a minimally invasive outpatient procedure can relieve the pressure with a small incision and a faster recovery.

Questions? Call 440-496-6994 to schedule an evaluation.
