Chiropractic & Nutrition Wellness Center

Chiropractic & Nutrition Wellness Center We recognize health is an inherent state of well-being in mind, body, and spirit. Our role is to remo join me on your journey to healing. In 1983, Dr. Karl R.O.S.

I offer a caring and compassionate, yet no-nonsense approach to core level healing of the underlying malfunctions that lead to poor health. Johnson, a chiropractor and clinical nutritionist in Shelby Township, MI, followed his heart into the health field. Now hundreds of chronic condition patients in southeastern, Michigan have the relief and quality of life that most chronically ill patients hope

and wish for, but seldom get. Unlike some who just ‘wander’ into the health profession and make a place for themselves, Dr. Johnson recalls how he was ‘drawn’ into the health field, it was his calling, his destiny. Before starting down his formal education path, Dr. Johnson had met many people and formed great relationships with individuals who he felt had the answers to his questions. Questions about health and healing, and why did the current “health care” system ignore the foundations of health. Time has really flown since Dr. Johnson graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1983. He has met many wonderful people and has been blessed with a busy practice and a wonderful team of assistants. Now more than ever he finds it exciting to be a doctor of chiropractic and a clinical nutritionist. For years there has been a resistance to natural healing methods by others who were not yet enlightened by its benefits. Acceptance of methods complimentary to traditional medical care is at an all time high and as a result more and more people are seeking alternatives to drugs and surgery. His passion for helping people and learning about the principles that underlie the foundations for health is at an all time high. Patients with chronic conditions (fibromyalgia, vertigo and other balance disorders, peripheral neuropathy, migraines, hypothyroidism, severe back, leg, neck and arm pain, ADD, ADHD, Autism, autoimmune disorders, etc.) from all over southeast Michigan flock to the Johnson Chiropractic Neurology & Nutrition because of Dr. Johnson’s whole-person, patient-centered, functional neurological, structural and metabolic approach. Most patients know intuitively that there must be more to helping their chronic condition besides simply trying to patch it up with drugs, and with Dr. Johnson they get that complete functional approach that creates the vitality and quality of life they deserve. Dr. Karl R.O.S. Johnson graduated Summa Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. and was voted to serve as the Vice President of the Pi Tau Delta Delta (an international chiropractic honorary society, open to the top 15 percent of the graduating class who have maintained a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have never withdrawn from a class or have never received less than a grade 3 for any quality grade while at Palmer. Invitations to Pi Tau Delta are issued during the final academic term.) At Palmer College of Chiropractic I began my intense study of neurology that I knew would allow me to serve my patients at a high level. Chiropractic Neurology is the newest, state of the art diagnostic and treatment technique. It brings together research findings from the fields of psychology, neuropsychiatry, neurology, neurophysiology, and nutrition — and used this knowledge to bring hope to the sick, unhappy, and hurting of all ages. Dr. Johnson states, "As a chiropractic physician, I strive to provide the finest care possible and provide an optimum environment for healing. Using the latest diagnostic tests to find the cause of your pain, suffering or ill health, it is possible to design a plan of care to get you back to your favorite activities fast. In my practice, you’ll discover a complete array of services for your entire family. Through a great number of continuing education courses, I have been very careful to master the newest and most effective techniques in chiropractic rehabilitative and wellness services as well as nutritional therapy. The procedures used in my practice are well suited for all ages from infancy to the elderly. Chiropractic is a quickly advancing field and I believe it takes dedication, diligence and just plain hard work to keep up. But I feel I must for the good of my patients." My personal free time is spent training for distance charitable cycling events (such as the MS Bike), a pursuit I picked up after one of my patients encouraged me to participate in my first 200 mile bike ride over 18 years ago. I have completed 17 such rides on the western side of Michigan and even participated in a team triathalon where my team came in first place for the age group. I am the proud parent of 3 young adults, and am happily married to my wife Sandra. I also love to learn and study about health, the human body, success principles, and science. I enjoy gardening, healthy eating, fishing, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, photography and sight seeing.

Tight hamstrings are not always just a muscle problem. In some cases, the sciatic nerve may not be moving as freely as it should, and that reduced nerve mobility can affect flexibility and comfort. 🦵

Let me explain. The sciatic nerve travels through the back of the leg, so when its movement is restricted, bending and stretching may feel tighter or more uncomfortable than expected. Research suggests that neural tissue mobilization, a hands-on approach designed to improve nerve movement, may help improve hamstring flexibility and pain-related outcomes in some people. 📚

🚶‍♀️ Exercise may help more than blood sugar. It may also support emotional health in people living with type 2 diabetes.

Depression is common in those with type 2 diabetes, and it can make daily health habits much harder to maintain. A July 2026 meta-analysis published in *Frontiers in Public Health* reviewed 22 studies and found that structured exercise programs may help improve depressive symptoms. Mind-body exercise, including tai chi and yoga, appeared especially promising.

This is an important reminder that movement supports both body and mind. Even simple, consistent activity may help improve mood, reduce stress, and support better overall well-being. 😊

If you are struggling with chronic health challenges, it may be time to take a closer look at how movement fits into your care plan.

Could omega-6 fats play a role in endometriosis and infertility? 🤔 Let me explain.

Endometriosis happens when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. It may lead to pelvic pain, inflammation, and fertility challenges. Research involving more than 115,000 adults found that higher circulating linoleic acid—an omega-6 fat commonly found in vegetable oils, nuts, and seeds—and higher total omega-6 fatty acid levels were associated with increased risks of both endometriosis and infertility.

This does not prove cause and effect, but it does give us one more reason to take a closer look at how nutrition may influence your body. 📚
In some cases, Dr. Johnson may also recommend specialized testing to measure your fatty acid profile and help uncover what may be contributing to your health challenges.

🦋 Thyroid health may be one important piece of the migraine puzzle.

A large analysis of data from more than 33 million adults in the TriNetX Global Collaborative Network found that both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism were independently associated with a higher prevalence of migraine. In other words, when migraines keep showing up, it may be wise to take a closer look at thyroid function as part of the bigger picture. Let me explain: hypothyroidism means an underactive thyroid, while hyperthyroidism means an overactive thyroid.

Research like this reminds us that your body works as an interconnected system, and sometimes the root cause of ongoing symptoms requires a deeper look. The more you know about how your body works, the better you can take care of yourself.

❤️ Stress affects more than your mood. It may also affect your heart.

A study published in *JAMA* found that in 918 patients with stable coronary heart disease, mental stress-induced myocardial ischemia was associated with a 2.5-fold greater risk of cardiovascular death or nonfatal heart attack. In simple terms, ongoing stress may place a heavier burden on your cardiovascular system than many people realize. 🫀

That’s why it’s so important to look deeper at the connection between emotional stress, physical health, and chronic pain challenges. Research suggests your body and brain are always communicating, and long-term stress may contribute to inflammation, tension, and poor recovery. 🔍

If you’ve been dealing with ongoing pain, fatigue, or health challenges, it may be time to take a closer look.

Burnout isn’t just in your head 😓

When stress goes on too long, your mind and body can both start to feel the effects. If you’re juggling work, family responsibilities, financial pressure, packed schedules, and everyday life, your body may stay in a constant state of tension for far too long.

Over time, that can show up in ways you may not expect, including:

😴 Ongoing fatigue, even after rest
🌙 Trouble falling asleep or staying asleep
🤕 Headaches
💆 Neck, shoulder, or back discomfort
🪢 Muscle tension
🧠 Difficulty concentrating
😣 Irritability or emotional exhaustion
🍽️ Changes in appetite
📉 Decreased motivation
🚶 Less interest in exercise, hobbies, or social activities
⚠️ Feeling like you’re always “on”

One symptom alone doesn’t always mean burnout. But when several of these signs start showing up together, especially over time, it may be your body’s way of asking you to take a closer look.

The more you know about how your body works, the better you can take care of yourself.
