FUSION B2B NETWORKING EVENT-VENDOR SPOTLIGHT ✨

Save a Life CPR Training When I was about 12 or 13 years old, I watched my sister and a neighbor girl collide head-on while riding bikes. They both went down. Unconscious. No adults around. Just me. I didn’t know what to do. I panicked. Ran to a neighbor’s house. Knocked on doors. No answer. Eventually someone came and helped—but what stuck with me wasn’t the outcome. It was that feeling of standing there… completely unprepared. Years later, while training in personal protection, we were told something that stuck: “You’ll deal with medical emergencies far more than anything else.” That led me to become an EMT, working on an ambulance and in rescue. And it hit me—that moment from when I was a kid is exactly why I was there.

Today, through Save a Life CPR, I teach businesses how to handle those same moments.
Not with complicated medical jargon—but with simple, practical steps so people can take action immediately, instead of freezing.

Because emergencies don’t wait for professionals to arrive.

They happen in front of you.

At the Fusion event, I’ll be doing hands-on demos—stop by and see if you’d know what to do.
🎯 We’re also giving away a FREE CPR training class (a $630 value) for a local business (up to 10 people).

Join us on May 5th at Montcalm Community College for one of our biggest networking events! More info-https://www.greenvillechamber.net/current-events...

When I was about 12 years old, I watched my sister and a neighbor crash their bikes head-on.

They both went down. Unconscious.

No adults around. Just me.

I didn’t know what to do—and I panicked.

That moment stuck with me for years.

Later in life, I became an EMT and worked on an ambulance. But what I realized is this:

Most emergencies don’t start with professionals.

They start with regular people… standing there… trying to figure it out.

That’s why I teach CPR and First Aid the way I do.

Not complicated. Not clinical.

Just simple, practical steps so people don’t freeze when it matters.

Because that moment—the “Oh, crap” moment—comes fast.

And you don’t get time to Google it.

If you’ve ever wondered whether you’d actually know what to do…

You’re not alone.

The downside of testing new trauma gear…
If you don’t use it in real life, it feels like wasting money.

I recently got some SEAL hemostatic wound spray to evaluate. Think of it as a potential next step beyond QuikClot — a sprayable hemostatic dressing for bleeding control.

Used on an actual patient? Fantastic.
Using it only in training scenarios? Painful to watch $ disappear.

The purple devices are for severe nosebleeds — those actually show a lot of promise too.

So… if anyone feels like having a legitimate bleeding emergency and wants to help me avoid wasting supplies, I’m accepting volunteers.
Real-world cases only, please. 😅

It was an honor to be invited to the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce COGG meeting today. Great lunch, nice to meet some new faces! Thanks for having me out!

Thank you so much to Dean for sharing his expertise and helping our members better understand the importance of preparedness and safety. Dean Dykstra, Owner and Founder of Save a Life CPR Training, shared valuable insights on CPR training and emphasized the critical importance of being prepared to respond in an emergency. He highlighted how the right knowledge and confidence can make a life-saving difference, whether in the office, at home, or out in the community.

Most people think saving a life takes advanced training.

The truth? It’s the simple steps that make the difference.

In my CPR and First Aid classes, I focus on the basics—the real-world actions that keep someone breathing, stop the bleeding, and buy time until help arrives.

You don’t need to be a doctor or EMT to save a life.
You just need to know what to do when seconds count—and practice it until it sticks.

That’s what we do at Save a Life CPR LLC.
Fast-paced, hands-on classes that cut through the fluff and give you what really matters in an emergency.

If you’ve been thinking about getting trained—or getting your team ready—let’s talk.

We bring the training to you, less down time, less scheduling hassles. Classes of all sizes, big or small, are accommodated!

Most people think they’ll freeze during a medical emergency.

I’ve spent 16 years teaching CPR and First Aid, and one thing I’ve learned: people can respond with confidence—if they’ve had the right kind of training.

That’s why I built Save a Life CPR LLC around “boots-on-the-ground” instruction. Fast-paced, real-world classes that stick with you when it matters most.

Whether you’re a business looking to train your team, a teacher, a coach, or just someone who wants to be ready—you don’t need a medical background to save a life.

Narcan in Michigan

My name is Dean Dykstra of Save a Life CPR LLC. I have seen a bit of confusion on overdoses, and it is a question raised in many of my classes. I have compiled a bit of info on it. If you have more questions, feel free to contact me at [email protected].

In 2016, Michigan passed a Naloxone (Narcan) standing order law, which allows a pharmacist to dispense Naloxone without an individual prescription. The legislature passed MCL-Section 691.1503, which states, in part, “An individual who in good faith believes that another individual is suffering the immediate effects of an opioid-related overdose and who advocates an opioid antagonist to the other individual is not liable in a civil action for damages resulting from the administration.”
Narcan can be life saving, is not addictive, and it is available at no cost to anyone in Michigan. Many medical walk in clinics have it available to the public, counseling centers may have vending machines (free of charge), law enforcement usually carry it, many churches have it, there are many places to obtain it.
If administered to someone mistakenly believed to be actively overdosing, you would not be physically harming that person. However, there are physical side effects of the medicine that may still come about, the most frequent being that they may crap their pants, vomit, or both.
If administered to someone actively overdosing, be cautious, because a frequent response to the medication taking effect is that the patient will come out of it angry and hostile. Also, be aware of cross contamination. Some of these drugs are so incredibly strong that they can cause overdoses through skin contact, just by touching it with bare hands.
Ambulances also carry the medication, so they can also administer it when they arrive if you don’t have any.
Stay safe, stay calm, always call 911 immediately!
