🕊️ Memorial Monday 🕊️

We are on our family vacation, and Elliott loved family vacations so today we remember and honor the life of Elliott Russell Ogle.

Elliott was a kind soul with a heart full of love for his family and friends. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand and would do anything for anyone in need. Whether he was spending time with those he loved, hunting, fishing, gaming with friends, or grilling his famous “Elliott Burgers,” he made every moment count.

His warm smile, generous spirit, and caring nature touched the lives of so many. Though his time with us was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Elliott is deeply loved and greatly missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Forever Loved. Forever Missed. Forever Remembered.

While a member of Sheridan United Methodist Church he was a trustee for many years and was on the Mission Committee for ~20 years, during which time he volunteered in the Kentucky missions for over 10 years.

Jim was Grand Marshall of the 2016 Sheridan 4th of July parade and in 2017 he was named Sheridan High School Outstanding Alumni. Jim was also a Boy Scout leader for Troop 118 for over 10 years. He was on the Cemetery Boards at West Grove Cemetery and Spicewood Cemetery for 30 years. He and Donna were members of Euchre club for over 50 years. 🇺🇸 Memorial Monday 🇺🇸

Today we honor and remember Billy Stone, a proud United States Army veteran, Purdue University graduate, devoted Christian, and a man who lived a life centered on faith, family, and hard work.

Billy shared many wonderful adventures traveling with his wife in their RV, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose kindness and steady presence touched so many lives.

A skilled woodworker, Billy built not only a family home with his hands, but also a legacy of love, dedication, and service that will continue for generations. His faith guided him daily, and his life reflected the values of compassion, humility, and devotion to others.

As Scripture reminds us:
“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” — Philippians 4:13

Today and always, we thank Billy for his service, honor his memory, and celebrate a life well lived.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes This Memorial Day 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, Fisher Family Funeral Services proudly honors the brave men and women from every branch of the United States Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We remember their courage, their service, and the families who continue to carry their legacy forward each day. Their dedication to our country will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends this weekend, may we all take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and give thanks to those who gave everything for our nation.

❤️ In remembrance. In gratitude. In honor.

On Memorial Day, we would like to share what enlisted men and women, veterans, and family have done over the years to honor though who have put on the uniform.

Leaving a penny on a headstone is a tradition that shows respect and lets the family know their loved one was visited.

This is a tradition that dates back all the way to before Vietnam. During Vietnam it gained popularity because of the political divide at the time, leaving a coin served as an anonymous, peaceful way for veterans to signal a visit without getting into uncomfortable or divisive conversations with a grieving family.

Penny: Indicates that someone simply visited and paid their respects.
Nickel: Means you and the deceased trained together at boot camp (or were schoolmates).
Dime: Shows that you served alongside the deceased (or worked together).
Quarter: Indicates you were physically present when the deceased passed away.

The funds from the coins are also not taken lightly. Cemeteries (particularly national veterans' cemeteries) routinely collect the coins and use the money to pay for indigent veterans' burial costs, unaccompanied soldiers, and/or general grave maintenance.

If anyone would like to join us or donate pennies, please feel free to reach out.

Every man dies two deaths, the day they take their last breathe and the day they are forgotten. Let’s not let them ever be forgotten.

Memorial Monday 🤍

Today we honor and remember Winona “Winnie” Lyon, a woman of deep faith, strong values, and a servant’s heart. Winnie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who cherished every moment spent with her family.

She faithfully served her church and community, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever she was needed. As an active farm wife, Winnie worked tirelessly alongside her family — cooking countless meals for the farmers, helping transport them, and making sure everyone around her was cared for and welcomed with love.

Her kindness, generosity, and warm spirit touched so many lives. Winnie leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, hard work, and compassion that will never be forgotten.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. 🤍

Memorial Monday

Today we remember William “Bob” Halcomb — a man who truly knew how to enjoy life and bring people together.
Bob was the proud owner of Shady’s Place, where laughter was loud, friendships were strong, and everyone felt welcome—and everyone looked forward to his wife Sandy’s desserts.
Whether he was behind the DJ booth playing the perfect song, out on the water skiing, or spending time boating with those he loved most, Bob lived life with energy and heart.
He was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a loyal friend to so many. His kindness, sense of humor, and unforgettable spirit left a mark on everyone who knew him.
Though he may be gone, the memories he created will live on—in every song, every sunset on the water, and every story shared.

Laughter is a powerful part of healing. On this Laughter Day, we’re reminded that even in life’s hardest moments, a smile, a shared memory, or a gentle laugh can bring comfort to the heart.

At Fisher Family Funeral Services, we see every day how important emotional well-being is—especially during times of loss. Grief and laughter can exist together. It’s okay to remember your loved one with tears, and it’s just as okay to remember them with a smile.

Taking care of your mental health means allowing yourself to feel, to remember, and to find moments of light when you can. Whether it’s sharing stories, spending time with family, or simply pausing to breathe, those small moments matter.

Today, we encourage you to check in on yourself and those around you. A kind word, a shared laugh, or a listening ear can make all the difference.
