Your 3am wake-up has two parts, and most doctors won't name either.
Part one is physical. Cortisol, the hormone that wakes you, starts climbing in the second half of the night and peaks close to 4am. At 35 you slept straight through that climb. Now your progesterone is dropping, the hormone that keeps you calm and holds you in sleep, so the same rise is enough to pull you awake. Most doctors call that aging and send you home.
Part two, conventional medicine has no framework for.
In Chinese medicine, the Liver governs your emotions, and the hours between 1 and 3am belong to the Liver. Carry enough frustration and grief you were never given room to put down, and the Liver gets congested. It wakes you in its own window, night after night.
One wake-up. Two stories. You deserve both.
