OCD, Perfectionism, and My Health Journey

What I learned is that this is OCD. This is "I feel very unsafe and I'm gonna control everything around me. I'm gonna be perfect and I'm gonna bust my ass if I wanna be successful".

This hard work pays off and I took that pattern into my my health journey. And and I looked at if diet helps me feel better when I improve that well how can I be perfect? How can I restrict more?

I'm micromanaging and trying to fix myself and figure out what's wrong. And so there's this underlying story that I'm broken and I need to be the one that fix that fixes that.

Find Freedom in the Now: Your Safety is Here

All the freedom that we want, the freedom from the symptoms, the freedom to express ourself it happens here in the moment. It happens in the now.

But so many of us are are living in our head and thinking our way to safety.

Capacity means that I can feel something that is uncomfortable and I can also know that I am safe.

What I do with my clients is noticing these patterns. Well what do I do when I feel unsafe? I feel the tension in my body. It's like you're at the the starting line of a race. You're waiting for the gun to go off .You're waiting for the worst possible thing and you're preparing for that instead of noticing my body connected to the ground.

Live Joyfully Despite the Symptoms

We can do those things now and do it with the symptoms. Do it with the anxiety. Do it with the fatigue. Do it with the sleepless nights.

Over time doing the thing that you love, experiencing joy, experiencing passion, having fun in life and having the symptoms with you without trying to make them go away it teaches your system that you're actually safe.

I'm gonna do the thing that I love and that updates the system every time. The brain goes "Oh we didn't die. We had fun. Maybe we are safe and maybe I don't need to send these symptoms all day long to get this guy to slow down and pay attention to me Maybe we are safe now."

Fasting Secrets: Unlock Fat Burning & Cellular Cleanup

The first 12 hours is all about the blood sugar and insulin and getting shuttling the sugar out of the bloodstream into the cells.

The next 12 to 18 hours is when fat burning starts to increase.

Once we're up to that 18 to 24 hours then the stored glycogen starts to fall.

And from 24 to 30 hours we start living on ketones. The brain loves running on ketones.

30 to 36 hours there's a bigger switch um and that's when that autophagy and the killing of the abnormal cells starts to show up.

Fasting: Discover Yourself Beyond Food and Stories!

Who are we beneath the stories? Can I live on one meal a day?

Am I eating because I'm really hungry? Am I eating because the sun in the sky is at a certain level so I know it's time for me to eat? Am I eating because It's feeding me emotionally? Is it pleasure in my body? Because food is pleasure Food is essential pleasure. Are we choosing foods that literally light us up on the inside?

Have I ever spent time with myself? And can I spend 24 hours fasting or 36 hours by myself? Questioning who am I without the stories. Who am I without the food? Can I do this?

Whether you can or you can't often it's a mindset. It's not real. It's just the way you are. And so sometimes doing a longer fast gives you that sense of "I can do this".

Unlock Conscious Living: The Power of Fasting

Remember fasting is about conscious living. You can fast from the quick emotional dopamine hits we get. You can fast from using your cell phone. You can fast from TV. You can fast from having to go on dates if you're single and you're dating. You could fast from working all the time.

I want you to play with conscious living. Fasting can be exercising, not exercising. Can be getting better sleep, not always being awake. Not always working, but balancing work and play.

Again think about the dualities of life and fasting being an opposite of feasting but fasting can be metaphorical as well.
