I just did a supplement review with a client last night. Quality and sourcing was one of the topics of discussion last night and I thought it was important to share these words from a fellow colleague, Melissa Muir LeGeyt because she captures how I feel about this breaking news in the supplement world.

“I've been following the news that Procter & Gamble is acquiring Thorne, and as someone who recommends supplements professionally, it's something I'm paying close attention to.

One of the biggest reasons I do what I do is because I want my clients using products I genuinely trust. Not all supplements are created equal, and quality matters. That's why I'm very intentional about the brands I recommend. I look for companies that prioritize research, testing, ingredient sourcing, and transparency—not just marketing.

When a practitioner-trusted company is acquired by a large consumer goods corporation, it's natural to wonder what that could mean over time. Sometimes nothing changes. Other times, we've seen product formulations, sourcing, or company priorities shift after acquisitions. It's too early to know what will happen with Thorne, but it's something I'll be watching closely.

My commitment hasn't changed: I'll continue to evaluate the evidence, review quality standards, and recommend products based on what's best for my clients—not based on brand recognition or popularity.

Your health deserves more than the cheapest option on the shelf. It deserves products backed by science, manufactured with integrity, and chosen with care.

As always, if I ever feel a brand no longer meets the standards I expect, I'll find one that does. My priority will always be helping my clients make informed decisions and giving them access to supplements I feel confident recommending.”

Do you have questions about your supplements? Are they from a quality manufacturer? Are there interactions with my other meds or supplements? Are there any that are duplicates or unnecessary? If you would like to review your supplements together, I would love to be a part of your care team. You can book a consult here at

Join me as your brain-and-pain tour guide at “Explore the Aging Body,” where we’ll take a guided look at how the aging brain and nervous system shape what we feel, and why pain can change as we get older.

We’ll unpack what’s going on behind the scenes in plain language and talk through practical ways to work with your brain instead of against it, so you can feel more confident navigating pain, providers, and daily life.

Be sure to book your free seat with your travel agent, Cara Lavender, Director of Aging Services, and join us for this all‑inclusive trip through the aging body.

I cannot wait to see you there! Share this with someone or tag someone in the comments because travel is always more fun with friends!

I am so excited about this bill to make healthcare pricing more transparent. It is nearly impossible to budget for your care when our system is full of surprise bills and hidden fees.

Even when I paid cash and asked specifically whether the price I was quoted was final and included all fees such as labs, radiology, and pathology consults, I was still hit with unexpected charges. My physicians and their office staff truly did not know about some of these additional costs and unintentionally gave me inaccurate pricing.

That lack of transparency left me with real financial strain related to my own care. No one should have to choose between their health and unexpected medical bills, which is why this kind of legislation is so important.

I had so much fun in this conversation with Lauren Castle, and I’m incredibly honored that she asked me to be the first guest on her new podcast and to step into the role of Executive Director at the Functional Medicine Pharmacists Alliance. This organization has been a huge part of my growth and continues to shape how I practice.

👩‍⚕️ We need a pharmacist everywhere medications impact patients, which is every practice setting, even ones where they aren’t using drug for the interventions, like physical therapy.

💊 Pharmacy is at a tipping point with automation and AI. Bringing in a functional medicine lens gives us a real opportunity to deliver more personalized, value-aligned care and move away from the idea of a pill for every ill.

💊💊💊Could your sleep, bladder, or allergy meds be quietly increasing your dementia risk?

I love seeing other clinicians call out medications that can raise dementia risk and the importance of regular med reviews for brain health at every age.

Did you know I’m BOTH? Pharmacists are the medication experts, and I am also a Board Certified Geriatric Pharmacist (BCGP), so my specialty is spotting high risk meds and reducing medication related harm before it shows up as brain fog, falls, or memory problems.

If you are taking multiple prescriptions, OTCs, or supplements and want to make sure they are serving your long-term health, this is your sign to get a comprehensive medication review with me.

I love this example so much. It really captures something I learned in Dementia Friends training: meet people where they are, not where we think they should be.
When we step into their reality instead of correcting it, everything shifts.

What looks like “agitation” is often someone trying to find purpose or make sense of their world. In this case, giving him something familiar and meaningful to do brought a sense of calm and dignity back.

It makes me think about how often these behaviors get labeled and treated with medication instead of being understood.

💊How many older adults are being medicated for agitation that might actually be eased through connection and meeting unmet needs?

This kind of care isn’t just compassionate, it may also be one of the most effective ways to reduce unnecessary medication use and better support our aging population.

It’s National Drug Take Back Week, but safe disposal is available year-round.

You can drop off unused or unwanted medications in our lobby 24/7.

People often imagine grand, heroic sacrifices for loved ones, yet struggle with the steady discipline required to actually show up for them every day.

From a practical standpoint, everyday habits like maintaining health, managing stress, and staying present are far more meaningful because they extend the time and quality of life you share with others.

In that sense, choosing long-term responsibility over short-term heroism is less about sacrifice and more about commitment, where real care is shown not in a single moment of intensity, but in years of reliability and presence.

Thank you to Texoma Council of Governments for inviting me for the 5th time to speak at an education day for the older adults and caregivers in our community. The day was filled with many great speakers to address different topics that can help help us age well and live life to the fullest.

I discussed the importance of learning to use technologies like patient portals to help manage your health data and make communication with your doctor easier. We also discussed how to and how not to use AI when it comes to health information.

Did you attend today? If so, tell me who was your favorite speaker and why.
