Just another reason we love The Pitt!

ASHA is proud to announce that The Pitt TV series will receive the Annie Glenn Award at ASHA’s 2026 Convention in Indianapolis.

Set in the emergency department of a Pittsburgh hospital, "The Pitt" has consistently illustrated varied patient experiences, depending on whether they had access to communication or not during the time of their medical emergency visit, and has regularly portrayed a need for effective communication in such settings.

Valerie Chu, a co-producer and writer for The Pitt, will receive The Annie Glenn Award on behalf of the show on Friday, November 20, 2026, at an evening awards program at the Indianapolis Convention Center & Lucas Oil Stadium.

The future is bright for Early Intervention SLPs and the families they serve. A four year long “reduce the wait” study at Northwestern University showed that specially trained EI SLPs are able to accurately diagnosis Autism, and will be able to legally do so in 2028. I did this as part of the A-DOS team under a similar initiative in Kansas, and can’t wait to expand my expertise and serve more families. 👏 👏

A new Illinois law, prompted by research led by Northwestern University’s Megan Roberts, significantly expands who can legally deliver autism diagnoses in Illinois.
