Betty S. Miller, who passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, at the age of 82 at her home in Gardners. Born on July 19, 1943, in Glen White, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Noah L. Cooper and Ruby V. Runyon.

Betty worked at Pfaltzgraff for 33 years and at Knouse Foods for 10 years. She was a member of Idaville United Brethren in Church Christ.

Betty is survived by three children, Teresa Hill and her spouse, Stephen Hill, Sr., Wayne L. Miller, Jr. and his spouse, Denise M. Miller, Michelle L. Myers and her spouse, Robert F. Myers; four siblings, Gary W. Cooper, May Redden, Nancy Shaffer, Sandra Naugle; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne L. Miller, Sr., four siblings, Robert L. Cooper, Harman O. Cooper, Thomas E. Cooper, and Charles L. Cooper; and one grandson, Stephen Hill, Jr.

A funeral service for Betty will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Dugan Funeral Home, 111 S. Main Street in Bendersville with Pastor Marc Webb officiating. Richard L. Comerer, age 75 of Shippensburg, passed away June 15, 2026 at York Hospital. He was born February 6, 1951 in Chambersburg to the late Wilbur W. and Susan V. (Flora) Comerer. Richard was an equipment operator for Southampton Township, a member of the Minnequa Club and the American Legion Post 223. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, especially at Jerry’s Flats.

Richard is survived by his wife of 56 wonderful years, Linda G. (McKee) Comerer; son, Douglas McKee and wife, Angela of Shippensburg; daughter, Christine Bailey and husband, Denny of Shippensburg; grandchildren, Rianon Turner, Hailey Wildason and husband, Dakota, Ryan Bailey and wife, Hilda and Brandon Bailey and great-granchildren, Penelope, Declan and Hazel. He is also survived by sisters, Linda Cummings of Shippensburg, Deborah Peters of Florida and Penny Burd of Carlisle and step-sisters, Betty Boyd of Shippensburg and Judy Darr of Newville. Richard was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Comerer and step-sister, Beverly.

Jane Ann Poe, age 71 of Shippensburg, passed away June 8, 2026 at Shippensburg Health Care Center. She was born July 21, 1954 in Jamestown, NY to the late William Albin and Pauline Ruth (Powers) Lindstrom. Jane was of Christian faith and enjoyed crafting and gardening, especially her rose bushes.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Charles W. Poe, Sr.; daughter, Tabatha Bromley of Waynesburg, PA; son, Casey Krone and Kayla Seeley of Corry, PA; step-daughter, Crystal Poe; step-son, Charles W. Poe, Jr. and wife, Leah of Pottstown, PA; 28 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Jane is also survived by her siblings, Kenny, Roger, Helen, Tom, June, Bill and Bob. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Judy and Ruth.

Stephen D. “Steve” Shumaker, 77, of Shippensburg, and son of the late Charles and Viola Shumaker, passed away on June 4, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Steve carried deep pride in his military service throughout his life. Following his service, he dedicated many years to working at the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg until his retirement.

Steve found great joy in helping local farmers whenever he could. Few things made him happier than climbing onto a tractor and spending the day working the land. While he spent much of his life rising before dawn, retirement introduced him to a new appreciation for sleeping in, a luxury he happily embraced.

In his neighborhood, Steve was the familiar face on the porch, the one everyone waved to as they passed by. He loved history in all its forms, and his family often joked that he had probably solved all the mysteries of history but simply wasn’t sharing the answers.

Above all else, Steve cherished his family. This year, he and his beloved wife, Mary, celebrated 55 years of marriage. Even after retirement brought them together nearly every hour of every day, they never tired of each other’s company. Some of their happiest moments were spent sharing late-morning coffee and chocolate milk dates on their back patio. Together, they demonstrated to their children and grandchildren that love, respect, support, and partnership can carry a family through anything.

Steve was his family’s biggest supporter, always ready with advice, encouragement, and occasionally an eye roll when one of their latest adventures seemed especially ambitious. He was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to have the whole family together, even if he occasionally removed his hearing aids when the celebrations became a little too lively.

He was also a devoted supporter of Mary’s many talents and hobbies, especially her baking and cooking, which he enthusiastically enjoyed throughout their marriage.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Shumaker; his son, Tim Shumaker and partner Candy; his daughter, Angie Pletcher and her husband, Deron; his oldest granddaughter, Laken Pletcher and her partner, Kylie Ryan, and youngest granddaughter, Lucy Pletcher. He is also survived by two beloved Dachshunds, Annie and Ellie, who served as his constant shadows and proud co-owners of his favorite recliner. Also survived by brothers, Ed and Dwight Shumaker.

While Steve’s absence leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds comfort in the years they shared with him and the example he set through a life marked by service, loyalty, humor, and love. As a man with a firm faith in God, his family and friends take comfort that he’s in a place of peace and healing.

Zenith Reed, age 83, went into the arms of our Lord on June 1, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Stoner) Rosenberry.

Zenny grew up in Roxbury and was a young teenager when she met her husband, James K. Reed from Pleasant Hall. They married in 1959 and spent a wonderful life of 67 years together. They enjoyed bowling and casinos and traveled to many places with their family and friends. Zenny cherished time spent with family. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she always strived to make it special, especially for the kids. In their later years, Zenny and Jim found a winter home in Florida where they made many friends.

Zenny worked several jobs over the years, mostly with the federal government and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot.

In addition to her husband, Jim, Zenny is survived by her daughter, Lindy Maxwell and husband, Curt; grandchildren, Stephanie Johnson, Angela Johnson and Kyle Clever and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Dawn Gadberry and husband, Trent and Alma Paulus and husband, Paul. She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Sherry Johnson and Darcy Clever, two brothers and one sister.

Reba Ann Shenk, 71, of Utica, OH and formerly of Shippensburg, PA passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 30, 2026 following a brief illness.

Reba was born on April 22, 1955, in Ontario, Canada, to Harold and Edna (Shantz) Shenk. She attended Melita Fellowship Church of Utica, Ohio. She moved from Pennsylvania to Utica, where she was being cared for in her home by her niece and husband, Carolyn and Daniel Miller, for the last two years. Her sister Elizabeth of Pennsylvania was there to help care for her the last week of her life.

She was a school teacher and also spent many years on the farm with her brother Stanley caring for her parents and her sister Miriam. She also enjoyed cooking, which included working in the kitchen at a local restaurant, as well as catering.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as brothers Stanley and Paul, a sister Miriam, and sisters-in-law Mabel and Rachel.

She is survived by her brothers Nathan (Betty), Wilmer (Mary Kate), Dwight (Ellen), David, Eldon (Esther) and a sister Elizabeth (Ammon) Weaver. She was also blessed with many nieces and nephews, as well as close friends, who she loved to spend time with.

A viewing (5:30-6:30) and memorial service (7pm) will be held at Melita Fellowship Church in Utica, Ohio, Sunday May 31st. The viewings (2-4 and 6-8) on Wednesday June 3rd, and funeral (Thursday June 4th 10 am.) will be held at Rowe Mennonite Church in Shippensburg, Pa with Alan Byler officiating. Burial will follow in the Rowe Mennonite Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the local church families for their care, support, and prayers through this time.

Victor K, Taylor, beloved son of First Sgt. Victor Kay Taylor (deceased) and Carole May (Clee) Taylor, passed away May 19, 2026 at Penn State Health, Hershey Medical Center. He died as a result of a motorcycle accident, which is under investigation.

Victor was an “Army Brat”. He was born in Heidelberg, Germany on October 14, 1963 and was a naturalized citizen. Victor previously lived in Karlshrue, Germany and Oberammergau, Germany. Victor lived in many different places, one in particular was Whitehall, OH. There he was on the all-star baseball team and was a Judo champion. In the late 70’s, he moved to Shippensburg with his parents where he had various jobs after graduating from Shippensburg High School in 1982. Later in life, he worked for Advanced Auto and was presently working for Pratt Industries in Carlisle.

Victor was a volunteer in the past for Katie’s Place and SPO in Shippensburg. He was a member of the American Legion Post 223, Shippensburg (The Sons of Liberty) and was Captain of the Legion Riders. There he helped to educate new riders on motorcycle safety. Victor’s love was his motorcycles and riding in any type of weather. Some of his hobbies were his motorcycles, riding since he was 16 and getting people interested in riding. He attended many classes on motorcycle safety. He also liked to fish and work on his home. Spending time with his family on special occasions was a priority for him. He loved to explore the United States. Victor was an honest, loving, kind man who would lend a hand if they needed it. One of his life experiences was being bitten by a rattlesnake and living to tell about it.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Victor Kyle Taylor; grandson, Beau Taylor; cousin, Kathryn Deardorff Harnish and husband, Tyler and their child, Ridge and cousin, Cole Deardorff and wife, Becka and their children, Everett and Jace. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nadine Taylor Deardorff. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

James Edward Myers, of Gettysburg, entered into Gods eternal care on May 20, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on June 20, 1948 in Gettysburg, James was the son of the late Fredrick William Myers and Marlyn (Rosenberry) Myers.

James proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, rising to the rank of Sergeant. His valor and commitment were honored through numerous accolades, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation. His service to his country exemplified his unyielding spirit and selflessness. A proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion, James remained active in his community, fostering camaraderie and support among fellow veterans. His passion for the Philadelphia Eagles exemplified his unwavering loyalty, as he enjoyed watching football games and movies.

James is survived by his four children, Dianna McGuirk (Robert Jr.), Donna Stephens (Yancy), Jeff Myers (Kristin), Deborah Chronister (Wade); one brother, Fred Myers (Linda); one sister, Rita Myers; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Holly Beth Turner, age 65 of Fayetteville, passed away May 14, 2026 at home surrounded by her family and entered into the arms of Jesus. She was born December 15, 1960 in Lancaster to the late George William, Sr. and Gale Patricia (McWilliams) Leeds. Holly was a teacher for West Perry High School and was an advocate for CPARC. She was a member of Vibrant- a Christian Church, attended Life House Church in Chambersburg and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Holly is survived by her husband of 30 years, Michael Stephen Turner; children, Albert John Rohrbaugh of Carlisle, Erin Elizabeth Stone and husband, Jesse of Loysville, Nicholas Alexander Rohrbaugh and wife, Stephanie of Mechanicsburg and Jake Ryan Turner of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; sisters, Danielle Trussell of Landisburg and Cheryl and brother, Philip Leeds. Rae Theresa Harman, 80, entered into God's eternal care on May 7, 2026, at her residence in Biglerville, Pennsylvania. Born on April 2, 1946, in Hanover, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Guy Leroy Deardorff and Irene Elma (Miller) Deardorff.

Rae was an active member of St. Paul's Church in Biglerville, where she shared her faith and talents generously with her community. Her love for music was profound, evidenced by her role as the Director of musicals at Biglerville High School, where she inspired countless students with her passion for the arts.

Rae dedicated over 25 years as a teacher's aide, extending her nurturing spirit to the children she guided. Her involvement with the daughters of the American Revolution reflected her commitment to preserving history and supporting her community. As a trained vocalist, Rae found joy and purpose in singing and music, which she shared with all those around her.

Rae was a cherished daughter, mother, and friend who dedicated herself to her loved ones and her passions. She is survived by two daughters, Theresa Barshinger and her husband, Brad, Shawna Harman; son Christopher Wilson and his wife, Gretchen; two brothers, Keith Eugene Deardorff and his wife, Brenda, Jeffrey Deardorff and his wife, Pat; seven grandsons, Troyer, Noah, Samuel, Caleb, Mica, Levi, and Jacob. In addition to her parents, Rae was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wilson Harry Harman.
