It is nearly impossible to avoid all of these bladder irritants, but the key is everything in moderation and drink plenty of water throughout the day.

If you know me pretty well, I have an obsession with fascia… ;)

What is it? Fascia is a network of connective tissue matrix that is continuous throughout the body (no start, no end). It covers & permeates every nerve, artery, vein, muscle, & organ. It gives the human body structure & stability, transports nutrients & wastes, & is extremely important for movement & transmitting muscular forces. It’s also the same shiny film you see on chicken breast.

Why do we care? We were all once taught that the skeleton holds up the human body. However, now we know that our fascial system is what influences bone alignment. COMPLETE OPPOSITE. I know when I was in cadaver labs many years ago, fascia was just thrown out bc it was considered “packing material.” We only cared about what was underneath it. However, we now know fascia has MORE nerve endings than the muscle itself.

How is fascia impacted? It can be restricted due to injury, overuse, poor movement patterns, sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, emotional/psychological trauma, & pregnancy. From a pelvic perspective, the endopelvic fascia (& other supportive fascial sheaths) can be disturbed during pregnancy & childbirth. I like to think of fascia as a network of spiderwebs. Each night you sleep, the collagen fibers between muscular interfaces rebuild. When you stretch each morning, spiderwebs from your night’s sleep literally melt away. (Fun fact: fascia can change state from a gel-like substance to a liquid)

Fascial dysfunction is treatable. PT is a great place to start. Movement & exercise is key, especially movement into directions you are not normally moving into regularly. Humans are meant to move. Other treatment options include dry needling, manual therapy, cupping, vibration therapy, & foam rolling.

🫦With hands-on manual techniques, I remove fascial adhesions and/or mobilize c-section scars that interfere with the ability of your core musculature to contract/relax properly. More specifically, re**us abdominis, transverse abdominis, and internal/external obliques. In addition, I am clearing the pathways of iliohypogastric, ilioinguinal, and genitofemoral nerves and blood vessels…which innervate the skin over the ge****ls. More blood flow = increased libido. It’s that easy.

💦💨While yes, urinary incontinence is common, but it is NOT NORMAL AT ANY AGE. But when we work together, your entire core (abs, posterior trunk, pelvic floor, and diaphragm) will strengthen to lessen symptoms of prolapse, urinary incontinence and uncontrolled gas. With increasing strength, pelvic organs are happier and move back into proper position.

💩Constipation issues go out the door. Between manual techniques through the abdomen, daily MOVEMENT, and behavior modification, bowel movements will become more regular.

🩻Say bye to back pain and posture is better than ever! The multifidi and transverse abdominis muscles (small stabilizing muscles) will be strong and more supportive to your spine. 📷cred:
