Sciatic nerve gliders and tensioners might look similar, but they do different things.

With a nerve glider, your head moves with your leg to take tension off one end of the nerve while adding it to the other. That lets the nerve slide through the tissues instead of putting it on a full stretch.

A nerve tensioner puts the nerve on more stretch from both ends, so it’s usually something we use later when the nerve is less irritated.

The right exercise depends on where you are in your recovery. Call us if you have nerve tension and aren’t sure where to start! Number in bio.

There’s something special about pouring into the next generation of physical therapists. 💙

Dr. Harris is an adjunct professor at Hawai’i Pacific University for their DPT program, and recently spent time with the physical therapy students sharing the lessons, experiences, and clinical skills she’s gained throughout her career. Watching future PTs grow in confidence and passion for this profession is a reminder of why mentorship matters.
