We’re excited to share a new partnership that will help make an essential part of healthcare more accessible for our patients!

MLK Health Center & Pharmacy is now partnering with Dispensary of Hope to expand access to medications for people who might otherwise struggle to afford the prescriptions they need. This partnership will increase our capacity to meet the medication needs of our community and help ensure that cost doesn’t stand between our patients and better health.

We’re especially excited about the opportunity to access certain insulins through the program, giving more of our patients living with diabetes the resources they need to manage their condition and stay healthy.

We are deeply grateful to Dispensary of Hope for partnering with us to remove barriers, expand access, and help our patients get the medications they need to thrive. Together, we’re making healthcare—and healthier choices—more accessible.

Yesterday, MLK Health Center & Pharmacy had the privilege of welcoming nearly 80 first- and second-year medical students from LSU Health Shreveport for a volunteer orientation!

Through our partnership with LSU Health Sciences Center, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience serving patients in a community health setting—and we couldn’t be more excited to see so many future physicians eager to learn, serve, and make a difference.

We’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of their medical education and to help introduce the next generation of physicians to the importance of community health. We can’t wait to see where their passion for service takes them!

Their dedication not only enriches their education but also helps us expand access to care for more uninsured patients in our community. We're grateful to announce that MLK Health Center & Pharmacy has received a $10,000 grant from the Jess C. Merkle Foundation to support our Nutrition Program!

Good health starts with good nutrition. This generous investment will help provide nutrition education, healthy lifestyle coaching, and access to healthy foods for uninsured adults living with or at risk for chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension. By equipping patients with the knowledge and resources to make healthier choices, we're helping them take control of their health and improve their quality of life.

Thank you to the Jess C. Merkle Foundation for believing in our mission and investing in healthier futures for individuals, families, and our entire community. Together, we're making healthy living more accessible for those who need it most. 🥗💙
