We are so excited to officially welcome Chea Sheppard as our new Administrative Coordinator! 🎉

Chea will be working behind the scenes to help keep everything running smoothly—from communication with families to insurance coordination and all the little details that help our therapists focus on what matters most: providing exceptional care for our families. 💙🧡💚

Supporting a child with medical special needs can be financially overwhelming with how insurance is these days. TEFRA has been in Louisiana to assist families that have children with special needs! It allows children to receive Medicaid coverage to assist with all of the ins and outs of medical necessities for the child! If you are curious if your child qualifies, reach out to Families Helping Families to ask your questions on all of the information you might need regarding this program/act! 🤩

💙 Did you know your child may qualify for Medicaid through Act 421 (TEFRA Option), even if your family’s income is over the usual Medicaid limits? This program may help eligible children with disabilities access the healthcare and services they need.

As a therapist, I’m ALWAYS preaching at families to take time for themselves and “mending their cup” so they can “overflow in their children’s lives”. Buuuuuut one thing I’m not good at is taking my own advice to others. 🫣

Wellllllllll this week, I’m taking a much needed break to relax and rejuvenate, so I can be back full of energy and ready to take on all the things that I can! If you need me, please still message me, but also allow me time to get back to you as I’m trying to unplug for a large portion of this week. 🙏🏼

I get lots of questions about pediatric pelvic floor therapy, along with other questions about development and other pediatric concerns! To help families know and understand more about their child and to have a growing library of quick information to look through, Jammin’ with James Therapy now has an ✨Information Hub✨ on our website!

Our first order of business has been to add pediatric pelvic floor therapy information here, but it’ll be ever growing and changing as we see needs!

Becoming a pediatric physical therapist and creating Jammin’ with James Therapy have single handedly been the best decisions I have ever made. Through every high and low, THIS is the calling the Lord has put on my life, so I will walk in faith with each step of the process. 🥹🙏🏼

I don’t always say ‘help’ anymore. I say ‘support.’ ❤️

As a pediatric physical therapist, I’ve noticed a shift in my language over the years.

Instead of saying, “I’m here to help your child,” you’ll often hear me say, “I’m here to support your child and your family.”

Why?

Because “help” can sometimes imply that I’m doing the work for someone.

“Support” recognizes that children are capable, resilient, and constantly learning. My role isn’t to “fix” them or do things for them—it’s to provide the tools, strategies, environment, and encouragement that allow them to develop skills, build confidence, and reach their goals.

It also acknowledges something incredibly important:

✨ Families are the experts on their child.
✨ Parents and caregivers are part of the team.
✨ Progress happens because of a collaborative effort, not because of one therapist alone.

Whether we’re working on walking, toileting, balance, strength, coordination, or participation in everyday activities, my goal is to support children in becoming as independent and successful as possible.

Words matter. Sometimes a small change in language reflects a much bigger philosophy.

I’m wanting to support you and your families better, but I don’t know how! 🫢 What are you seeing as needs for the families in the area? How can Jammin’ with James Therapy support your kids better?

Natchitoches families who have a child with special needs of any kind, this is ESPECIALLY for y’all! I know support for y’all can be limited in a smaller town, but I want to change that for y’all!

THINK BIG! I want your wildest dreams, your biggest desires, and what your heart longs for with this community and the surrounding areas! This will help me dream big for y’all and start putting boots to the ground to figure out the best methods of getting these dreams to come to life. 🫶🏻
