🇺🇸 OUR PROMISE TO AMERICA'S VETERANS MUST NOT BE BROKEN. 🇺🇸
As the DAV Department of California Legislative Director, I am asking every veteran, family member, caregiver, and supporter to stand with us in opposition to the disability compensation cuts included in H.R. 9237 – the Take Care of America's Veterans Act.
This legislation contains several important provisions that DAV strongly supports, including: ✅ The Major Richard Star Act
✅ Improvements to survivor benefits
✅ Expanded caregiver support
✅ Prosthetics improvements
✅ Increased assistance for catastrophically disabled veterans
However, Section 108 crosses a line that should never be crossed.
It would effectively eliminate disability compensation for many veterans with service-connected tinnitus and significantly reduce compensation for veterans with sleep apnea.
According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, these provisions could impact up to 1.5 million veterans and reduce future disability compensation by as much as $57 billion over the next decade.
Veterans should never be forced to pay for the benefits of other veterans. Congress has repeatedly found ways to fund other national priorities without sacrificing those who served. It must do the same for America's veterans.
The DAV believes Congress can protect and expand veterans' benefits without cutting the earned compensation of disabled veterans.
📢 Take Action Today!
☎️ Contact your Member of Congress and urge them to oppose any legislation that cuts earned disability compensation for disabled veterans. Tell them to remove these harmful provisions from H.R. 9237 while preserving the positive measures that support veterans and their families.
Together, our voices are stronger. Together, we protect the promises made to those who served.
