Some of the CANTER team spent the day at Veteran’s Memorial Park for Celebrating Animal’s. Thanks to them for giving their time over Mother’s Day weekend! And thanks too for everyone who stopped by to say hello!

It has been a busy time out at CANTER the past few weeks as we’ve been getting ready to start our Indoor Arena build. Fences had to come down, footing was removed from the existing arena, we had to level it because there was a 2 foot slope from one end to the other, as well as had to reroute waterlines and ensure we didn’t hit anything else.

It was with a very sad heart that we had to say goodbye to Black Jack this past Tuesday. Although we initially thought he had made a turnaround, he developed a terrible case of pneumonia as a result of his choke. Despite valiant efforts, the kindest thing we could do for our beloved friend was to guide him gently into heavenly green pastures. We thank Dr Dusti for lovingly releasing you from your suffering sweet boy. Although we will miss you terribly, we rejoice in knowing you now graze where pain and illness can never reach you again!

This boy has had a rough few days. Thanks to the expediency of our volunteer staff, our Barn Manager and Veterinarian, Dr. Dusti Prentice, we were able to alleviate him of choke and while he was sedated for that, she managed to do a tooth extraction, file some points, and removed a bean! Poor guy!! Getting food and antibiotics in him the last few days has been hard, but he seems to have turned a corner in the middle of the night and was very hungry this morning!
We love you Black Jack and pray you’re on your way to full recovery!

Don’t forget that those filing taxes in AZ may qualify for a tax credit if you make donations to a Qualifying Charitable Organization. And yes, CANTER is a QCO under AZ state law. 😊 And you can even wait until you see how much your tax liability is and write a check accordingly! Ask your tax preparer for more details.
