The CARE Program is hosting an Every Child Matters Walk on Wednesday, September 30! The event starts at 12 PM and will be held at the Siletz Valley School.

Every Child Matters is a slogan used in tandem with the National Day of Truth Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day. This day has been established to remember and honor the over 150,000 Native American children who attended Indian Residential Schools and the 6,000 plus First Nations children who died under their care. These children were forced from their homes, abused, and subjected to deliberate suppression of their cultures and languages. Many never returned to their families.

September 30 is a day for truth and stories to be shared so the process of healing and reconciliation can begin. Wear orange and join us for this awareness walk to take part in that path forward.
