The Compassionate Care Awards are presented annually across Adventist HealthCare to honor team members who go above and beyond to live our RISES values: Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Stewardship. These recognitions are especially meaningful because they come from peer nominations, those who see firsthand the extraordinary difference our caregivers make each day.

🥁This year’s winners for Home Care are Ansu and Gwen, who worked together to remove significant obstacles that were harming their patient’s physical health, independence, dignity and emotional well-being.

Gwen and Ansu refused to see limitations as barriers. Through perseverance, teamwork and unwavering compassion, they remained committed to seeing their patient as a whole person, continuously problem-solving, advocating and offering support with patience and respect.

They embody what true compassionate care looks like: staying present when progress is slow, navigating complex challenges and believing in a patient’s potential every step of the way. Because of their incredible efforts, their patient is now able to move more freely and reclaim her independence. 💙🧡

Renee M. was recently honored as Nurse of the Year by Maryland-National Capital Homecare Association. Her parents joined us for the celebration, which made the day even better!

For an incredible 40 years, Renee has been a dedicated nurse with Adventist HealthCare Home Care, and her impact is felt in every patient she visits, every colleague she supports and every nurse she mentors. Her passion for home health nursing, her loyalty to our mission and her compassion for patients shine through in everything she does.

Renee consistently goes above and beyond to make sure patients receive timely, high-quality care. Her professionalism, skill and calming presence have earned glowing praise from patients and families, who often describe her as thorough, efficient, personable and truly reassuring during difficult moments.

She’s also a trusted mentor and preceptor, generously welcoming new nurses and students, sharing her knowledge with patience and enthusiasm, and helping shape the next generation of caregivers. On top of that, Renee is always ready to lend a hand across departments, strengthening teamwork and improving access to care.
