Everything has a season, and November 1, 2026, marks a new season of change and growth at Liv by Advantia Health. 🍂

What’s Changing:
• Beginning November 1, 2026, Liv providers will no longer accept new obstetrics (OB) patients.
• As of March 1, 2027, Liv providers will no longer provide OB care, including prenatal visits and labor and delivery.

Liv will continue to provide comprehensive gynecologic care, including annual wellness visits, contraception, office-based procedures, preconception counseling, and treatment of gynecologic concerns.

Support for Prenatal Care:
• Currently pregnant patients should watch for communication from Liv, with individualized guidance regarding your ongoing prenatal care and delivery plans. Ensuring a smooth and supportive transition for all other patients remains a top priority.

“While we’ll miss supporting our patients through pregnancy and delivery, this change allows us to expand our comprehensive gynecologic services and provide individualized, evidence-based women’s healthcare for every stage of life. We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to caring for our patients for years to come,” Dr. Sharon Kressel.

📅 October 18 is World Menopause Day

Established by the International Menopause Society, World Menopause Day aims to raise awareness of the menopause transition and the challenges women face during this stage of life.

This year’s theme is chronic pain, something many women experience during and after menopause. Joint and muscle pain, migraine, pelvic pain, and widespread pain and fatigue are all more common in midlife.

If you’re navigating these symptoms, you’re not alone, and support is available. Schedule a visit with your provider if you're experiencing new or worsening pain.💜

Between 50%-70% of women experience joint or muscle pain or stiffness during menopause, including aching joints, frozen shoulder, bursitis, and hip pain. This is due to hormonal changes, bone density loss and weight fluctuations that occur during this time.

You don't have to just endure this pain and loss of mobility. HRT, exercise, diet changes, hot & cold therapy, medications, and supplements may help alleviate this pain and stiffness.

If menopausal pain is interfering with your daily life, schedule a visit with your healthcare provider to discuss these concerns. Or, you can schedule a full menopause consultation with some providers to evaluate the many areas of your life that the menopause transition can impact.

Education is an important first step when it comes to breast cancer prevention. When you know whether you are at average or above-average risk, ways to lower your risk, how and when to get screened, and what symptoms to watch for, you are more likely to get the right care, faster. 💝

In celebration of , we’re revisiting our mammogram video series. This week, Dr. Olson of Simmonds, Martin & Helmbrecht of Advantia explains how mammograms work. Mammograms use low-dose x-rays to capture breast images for review by a trained radiologist. At the Ob-Gyn Associates Silver Spring location, we use 3D mammogram technology to increase the accuracy and quality of the images.
