I wanted to update all patients in this particularly challenging time. All Harrison Hospital campuses have made a difficult decision to cancel all elective cases for the next two weeks. This will affect many of my patients and I wanted to reassure you that we are doing our best to make these difficult decisions for the safety of the entire community. For now, surgery scheduled at are ambulatory surgery center (Salmon center) will proceed as scheduled. It is most important that any patients who are considered high risk and are scheduled for an elective surgery consider postponing surgery. You have my word that is soon as we have reassurance that is safe to proceed with elective cases we will do everything in our power to get them done quickly and efficiently. Please be safe in this trying time and do not hesitate to contact the office if you need our help.

That a generous and meaningful gift. Absolutely what we need to improve medical education and care in our country.

Great article by a great colleague.

Burnout among physicians is a symptom of something larger: the moral injury of being unable to provide high-quality care in today's health care systems.

Thank you TPL for bringing Sam Quinones to town! All, please consider attending this event-- Mr. Quinones is a fantastic, engaging and compelling speaker whose book Dreamland is one of the best of the past several years. The growing Opioid epidemic is one of the most important public health issues Ohio faces-- again, I promise you will not regret hearing this talk-- it is pertinent to all of us.

The author discusses his award-winning book "Dreamland: The True Tale of America

"I remember wanting to be an orthopaedic surgeon when I was in grade school, even though I doubt I knew what that was at the time. I think it must have stemmed from playing sports and having sprains or broken bones. When I went on to med school, I liked almost every field, but when I rotated in Orthopaedics, I just clicked with the people I worked with. When I saw that the orthopedic teams, not just the surgeons, really enjoying it, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I truly believe that when you choose a vocation, you shouldn’t pick something that you think the world needs, but rather pick something you absolutely love, because your passion will become contagious, and your job fulfilling. Life is really short, and I am so thankful I love what I do."
