At Siouxland OB/GYN, we offer expert care for everything from routine prenatal checkups to managing high-risk pregnancies. Our services include routine and optional blood testing, initial ultrasounds, genetic screening, 3D/4D ultrasounds (with a video to share with family), perinatology consultations, and in-office fetal monitoring. GYN Services:
We’re dedicated to supporting your health throughout all stages of life. Understanding that we are often your primary care provider, we offer comprehensive annual exams and personalized care. Depending on your age and needs, we may recommend additional testing like mammograms, bone density scans, urodynamic testing (bladder), in-office ablation, and permanent contraception. Our team works closely with you to create a tailored healthcare plan, informed by the latest research in reproductive health, menopause, and postmenopausal care. If surgery is needed, we ensure you’re fully informed and comfortable with your decision. From insurance pre-certification to post-surgical care, we handle every detail so you can focus on your well-being.

This week, we’re excited to introduce Shelbie Merchant, RN, who joined our nursing team last winter!

A few fun facts about Shelbie:
🩺 Her passion for nursing is personal after surviving a serious battle with sepsis in 2017, she was inspired to become a nurse and help care for others.
👧👦 She is a busy mom of three!
☀️ When she’s not at work, Shelbie loves spending time outside, playing and making memories with her kiddos.

👶 Baby Cuddles: Do's & Don'ts 💕

There's nothing sweeter than snuggling a new baby! Help keep little ones healthy by following these simple tips:

✅ DO
• Wash your hands before holding a baby.
• Wait to cuddle if you're feeling sick or have been around someone who is.
• Support baby's head and neck.
• Give baby back to mom or dad if they become fussy or hungry.

❌ DON'T
• Kiss a baby's face or hands. Even healthy adults can spread viruses like RSV, flu, COVID-19, or cold sores.
• Smoke or v**e around babies.
• Wake a sleeping baby just for a cuddle.
• Forget to ask Mom and Dad before picking up or holding their little one.
A little extra care goes a long way in keeping baby healthy, and happy. 💙

💙 Meet Us Monday- Meet Dawn! 💙

If you've visited Siouxland OBGYN, chances are you've been welcomed by Dawn's friendly smile at our front desk! 😊

Dawn has been part of the Siouxland OBGYN family for 10 years, and she loves getting to know our patients and helping them feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door.

When she's not at work, Dawn enjoys spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, Maeson and Cam. ❤️ She also loves exploring new bike trails, getting together with friends, and attending country music concerts. 🚴🎶

At home, Dawn is a proud cat mom, but she's also become quite the bird enthusiast! She and her family have several bird feeders to attract different species, including one right outside the window to keep their curious kitties entertained. 🐦🐱

This week we're introducing Shelvee', one of our amazing nurses here at Siouxland OBGYN!

Originally from Galva, Shelvee' spent 11 years living in Louisiana, where she met her husband and discovered her passion for women's health while working at Louisiana Women's Healthcare Associates in Baton Rouge. Three years ago, she and her family made the move back to Iowa, and we're so glad they did!

When she's not caring for patients, you'll find Shelvee' spending time with her husband, kids, family, and friends or planning her next getaway. 🌴 Her favorite destinations? Florida and the Bahamas! ☀️🌊
